I would like to find the live feed when ignition is on only, so that I can connect heated grips on my Kawasaki zx12r and it will go off with ignition. Do you know how I can find it? This is a 2006 model. Thanks, Maxx.
Get the power for you heated grips directly from the ignition switch. Use a test light to determine which wire to use. You're looking for a "switched" wire, one that goes on and off with the switch.

Maxx, I'm afraid that this is the best that I can do. I'm not all that good with the Japanese bikes specializing in Harley-Davidson, earlier models at that. All these bikes have now come out with computer control and anti-theft devices that make them very difficult to work on. It's not like the old days when all you had to be was a decent mechanic, now you've got to be an electronic genius as well. I'm pretty fair with the electronic part but you've got to have a schematic to start with.
In looking for your power source, keep in mind the current draw of the heated grips. If they draw too much current, you'll start blowing fuses on the circuit that you tie them into. If this happens, resist the urge to install a bigger fuse as the fuse is sized for the current handling capability of the wire, not the device. A bigger fuse may lead to burned wiring looms.
Good Luck with your project. I wish I could have been more helpful.

Thanks for that but it's easier said than done because the wiring are in looms and a rather sophisticated alarm immobiliser is fitted and I don't want to pull things apart and bugger anything up.
I really wanted to know if there were any plug-in points that I can plug into, rather than cutting and soldering. The ignition switch wires are not accessible without cutting. This machine has the Kawasaki ignition security system so messing with it is just not on.
Any further suggestions gratefully received.
Many thanks, Maxx.
Many thanks for your help, I think that I'll just return it to the original position of putting in an in-line fuse rather than messing with these new fangled computerised thing-a-ma-jigs.
Thanks again.
Maxx.
use a 12 volt test light and find out, this is easy my friend.
