I know this one, it happened to me. Its a factory computer setting to let you know your battery is low. Completely cuts your speedo out (reads zero). Ride 10 mins stop and start again magically it works! I spent many hours fiddling with wires. Only solution - take to a Triumph dealer with the computer and get the "error sensor check" changed to override - takes 2 mins. More info on the Triumph riders site. Later models don't have this setting - mine is a 2002 Triple
