2000 Suzuki Marauder 805cc Slow Crank on startup!

I put a brand new battery in this bike assuming that it cranked slow because the battery was bad. Now with a new batter installed and fully charged it still turns over ,unless the engine is warmed up, then the bike turns over more quickly like it should. On colder days I have a heck of a time getting it to turn over even though I hook it up to a trickle charger after each use. The bike runs great once started and warmed up, but this is getting old and I'm afraid to ride it past September because of the colder weather afraid it won't start. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

I have the proper weight oil in the bike, it's 10w-30 just like the top of the dipstick says. This bike has this problem year round 80 Degree day or 60 degree day the problem just gets worse when it's cold out. I think the started must be bad, but it's hard to say.

Sounds like the oil is thick. Do you know what weight oil was installed last? If there was 40 weight put in and its getting colder out it get thicker. You can change the oil to a 30 weight and change the filter to see if that helps.

Slow cranking on 805cc marauder is due to bad starter relay. the relay is not necessary and can be removed from cicuit by jumping yellow/black to yellow/green on the relay plug. the relay is behind left sidecover and is clearly marked starter relay.i did this on my 2000 805cc and it starts flauless now

How many spark plugs in 2000 suzuki marauder 800

The engine on your 2000 Marauder 800 is the same 805cc engine as on my 2006 Boulevard S-50. They take two spark plugs, one per cylinder near the exhaust ports. I recommend NGK- 5129 gapped at 0.035 inches.

Sounds like you have a bad stator or rectifier. If you like to work on your own bike get a repair manual it will give you several test you can do. Charge the battery to full charge, take a volt meter and put in on the battery leads pos to plus and neg to ground. start the bike and watch the meter it should be putting out over 13 volts if it is not have your rectifier and stator checked by a pro. also check the compression valve cable it may be out of adjustment . I had one of those bike for 13 years a great bike

SURE SOUNDS LIKE STARTER IT SELF, BUT COULD BE THE RELAY,
USE VOLT METER TO MAKE SURE YOU ARE GETTING GOOD VOLTAGE TO THE STARTER WHEN YOU TRY TO CRANK. IF YOU HAGE GOOD VOLTAGE, AT LEAST 10.5 , THEN IT IS STARTER. HOPE THIS HELPS. ROBERT

While riding my 04 marauder 800 it died. It will not not even attempt to crank now. I tested the bat. and it is good. What has shut down my bike??

Hi and welcome to the site,

Initially, if the battery has been charged and load tested to be good, then check the 30A main fuse. This is of course assuming that the bike is dead electrically. The main fuse would be located in the starter relay. To locate the starter relay, follow the cable from the battery's + terminal.

Good luck and thank you for asking.

Two solutions > Go to the site below where you can see a parts diagram for your specific bike. You will select the actual brand, year, model, etc., once you go to the site. Part numbers and prices are also shown. You can order parts from this site. In the event no price is shown on a particular part, the part is not in stock. www.babbittsonline.com/pages/parts/viewbybrandand/parts.aspx They have a new crank in stock. Approx $657.00.

Google " motorcycle salvage suzuki " and see if you can get one there. Chances are the used crank will come with the rods in place.
