I have a 01 426 and it is really hard to start. I have put a new plug in it canged oil ,checked the valves they are right by the book...but it takes a lot of kicks to maybe if you are lucky to start it...sometimes I have to pull start it..so if someone can solve my problem tell me... thanks

G'day TJP..OK...Lets concertrate on starting procedure.Bring the piston up on the compression stroke , you will feel the kickstarter offering resistance.Pull in the decomp lever and bring slight pressure on your kicking leg,you only want to move the kickstart lever 10-20 mm.Close the decomp and kick her in the guts...show her who's BOSS...Be a MAN.Dont forget the choke,fully out when cold,but no more after a few kicks. Keep on try'in, you'll get it.I've seen guys kickin and kickin till the cows come home only to find that they have sooted up the plug and need a hip replacement.Once you do master it you'll have every man,woman and child wanting YOU to start their 4 stroker for them.I think there is something about starting procedure in the service manual...check it out. failing that you may have to clean the carby,IE, air ways,pilot jet etc Good luck...TJP98611.Please leave feedback if i've helped.

Hard to start
valve seals worn out they get hard 4 and 8 cylinder is very close must be from head gasket oil going to the cylinders do one petrol treatment for 2 times and one oil treatment flush. New oil filter and oil fit one size up more hot spark plugs check the pcv valve for mail function clean fuel tank and fuel filter new.

I just got a 1994 yz 125 and when i was riding it ,.. it would run good as long as i was going slow and not raping out the gears .. but when i would give it a lot of gas to take off it would bog out and...
if the plug is sooty your float is set wrong the air filter should have oil on it to catch dirt.sounds like a carb problem although it could be the power valve

Ok here we go, 1978 chevy nova sb 350. timing was kinda close, but i heard a lil bit of a knocking put my ear to it and determined lifter, adjusted lifters as book states (til no slack then 3/4 turn...
You might not have #1 at tdc on the COMPRESSION stroke. You're trying to get it to tdc the hard way. Take #1 plug out and have someone bump the starter while you hold your thumb over the plug hole. You'll know when its a tdc cause it'll blow your thumb off. When youve got it close, turn the crank to absolute tdc using the timing marks on the harmonic balancer. Take the distributor out and pull the cap off. Then turn the distributor rotor to point at the #1 plug on the distributor cap. Put the distributor back in and put the cap back on. Make sure that the oil pump slot lines up right, as the distributor won't sit flush until its right. If its not lined up, take a long flathead screwdriver and turn the oil pump to make the two line up. Last, make sure the wires are on the right plugs on the cap using the firing order cast into the intake manifold. Remember that the rotor turns COUNTER clockwise.

If there's oil on the sides of the engine valve cover then the valve cover gasket should be replaced. If there's oil on the spark plugs then the enginve valve seals must be replaced. Worn out valve seals can make the oil get in the plugs.

Number of litres for oil change for a 660 t artic cat turbo
You need about 3 liters of Mobil 0w40 synthetic oil. New oil filter.
There is a plug on the belly pan of the sled. Pull that off.
Then there is a oil drain plug on the oil pan of the sled(look through the hole in the belly pan)
Pull the oil plug and drain old oil.
If you have a turbo, take off the intercooler tube, and then put rags or papertowel below where the oil filter sits.
Spin off the oil filter (this might be real hard and some have resorted to driving a screwdriver through the filter to get it off)
After all has drained..
Put in oil pan plug.
Put in belly pan plug.
Spin on new filter, put a little oil on gasket first.
Replace intercooler tube.
Then refil from the top of the motor with 2.5L of oil.
Checking dipstick as you fill.
Then start motor for a second or two, to fill filter.
Top off the oil and recheck the dipstick until it reaches the full line.
It really is very easy and after you do it once, you will be an expert at it.

I want to change the oil myself but I have never done it before. I have a 99 Dodge Dakota with 150k. It has a 4 cyl engine. I know the basics but not much more than that. How much oil should it...
changing oil is pretty much the same, 5 quarts is all you need and don't waste your valuable money on synthetic, at how many miles already on the truck you don't want to use a different type oil because a lot of the gaskets will start to leak, hope this helps

Do a compression test. Low compression will make it start hard. (How is your air filter?)

1992 yz 250 won't start
A couple of things.1.Check the fuel oil mixture is correct.It seems rich.2.Check that the carby is not running to rich.With new reed valves etc.it may need to be set back to the original manu. specs.With older parts it may have been retuned to make it run with the old parts.(carby jetting etc.)3 make sure the fuel oil mix is using a good quality oil.It does make a world of difference.I hope this is a start to get you going.

Oil filter is tight and seated properly, drain plug is secure and no leakage- have had some oil smell while driving the past week or so- pulled into home and oil smoke pouring out of engine compartment and...
Check Front main seal, rear main seal, or one of the EGR hoses. Check oil fill cap. Also check filter if seal was crushed too hard it may be spraying oil out of it. Where is the largest amount of oil? May tell where its starting from.
