did the guy give you the starting method. if not you have flooded the plug and it will only start if you replace the plug or dry it out. method. dont touch the throttle. pull decom lever and kick over 10 times. release lever get topwith kick start. pull decom lever slightly to allow kick start to drop 1 notch. release lever and let kick start back up and kick hard. repeat should start second go.
Not sure of the age of your YZ 250 ( You never said!) but in most Yamaha they use dual stage stator which means a stator will charge a spark plug at two speeds one on kick starter speed and the other on running speeds it is common that the low speed circuit on the stator to fail leaving you with a bike that only starts when pushed its a very simple test to diagnose it be worth checking you have spark on kick starter speeds with spark plug out the motor but still connected
Not much info to go by, but i'll give some things to check. Got fuel? Got Spark? Got Compression? If you have all these things, after kicking several times, pull plug to see if the plug is wet. If wet dry with compressed air, ground plug on head bolt or use spark tester, Kick engine over while watching plug, it should spark. If not replace and try again. If still no spark, check kill switch with ohm meter to make sure is working properly. If still no spark you will have an electrical issue with either the CDI Box or Stator. If the plug was dry without fuel, pull fuel line from carb. check to make sure fuel is running, if not check fuel shut off valve. sometimes the shutoff valve will clog up. If all is well it has to be a clogged carb.. Good Luck
sounds like the source coil in the generator is failing , replace the item. it should not be too expensive from yamaha,or it could be the kill switch, you can disconnect this and see if your spark is improved
G'day i am a . YZ 125 j ...lets see now! You could perform these tests yourself.Check your plug CAP,if in doubt replace it with a new one. Take the below ohm figures and see if they match up.
Pulse coil: white/blue and white/red= 310 ohms.
low speed coil: Green/white and Black/red= 900 ohms.
high speed coil: Green/blue and black= 55 ohms.
hope this has helped in some way to helping you solve your problem. If it has please leave feed back.Ride hard , see ya,Tabbycat
check your compression I had a 94 yz that done that when i checked the compression it was really low so I put new rings on the piston and that's all it took to bring her back to life
try to change your solenoid
