When you first turn the key to start the vehicle the PCM - engine computer energizes the fuel pump relay turning on the fuel pump for two seconds to prim the system . The fuel pump won't be turned on again till the PCM receives a crankshaft position sensor signal. If you hear it come on the inertia fuel cut off switch is OK . Now then what problem are you having Lisa ? A no start condition ? Is there spark getting to the spark plugs ? Do you have a red light on the dash flashing when trying to start the truck ? Anti-theft system problem .
Probably something with the PATS system , Passive anti theft system. Is there a red light in the middle of you dash that flashes fast when you try to start the car. Or is there a security light lit on you instrument cluster ? If you have a problem with PATS the engine computer will turn off fuel injectors in some cases !
Do you hear the fuel pump rum for approximately 3 seconds when turning the key to on position and right handleswitch in the run position. If not research the vehicle down sensor also known as the tip over sensor as well as the fuel pump relay. These are the most common problems with no start situations as you describe.
