If it is made different, then you got the wrong part. There can also be changes in electrical items in mid year production. Unfortunately, most electrical parts are not returnable. I suggest you take the part number for the part you got and look it up on the internet or go to your local dealer. OEM is the way to go. Good luck.
SOURCE: no fire from ingition coil
are you saying that you have 12 volts to the coil but no spark out/if this is the case first make sure the cam is turning by looking in the oil cap hole, next yes the cam sensor is a common failed part and can cause the problem, you also have the crank sensor just below that and it would not hurt to replace also

so yo have an electronic ignition then. Id be suspiciious of the little 'black box' that comprises the system.
Electronic ignition is teriffic while it works, and they have a good track record. When it quits ... id much rather work on the points type.
Aside from checking the adjustment on the electronic ignition, I dont think there is much you can do with them

1. Tell your dealer your Chassis No. for key replacement in their file
2. Try your local locksmith to make a duplicate
3. Replace the whole ignition key cylinder.
Good luck
