I have a 2004 CF230; starts and idles great. When I start in first gear the bike just bogs down to where it almost stalls. Air cleaner is good, plug is good. Could there be a jet blocked? How do I fix this?

The first thing to try is putting a couple of fuel tanks of injector cleaner (properly mixed) through the injection system.

Also clean the IAC (idle air control)

Aug 24, 2014 - Several months ago the bike started to die out for no apparent reason. It would spit and sputter in 6th gear and then refuse to hold an idle.

Every vehicle has 10-15 years of life and after 10 to 15 years they have zero value that means it cant be sold with a good amount neither can work after these years.

I would check your spark plug to see if fouled, if so clean with wire brush and carburetor cleaner or replace plug. You think it is possible the fuel mix got higher than 40 to 1? If mix is too high it can cause the bike to run lean.Usually if mix is off you will have some blueish grey smoke coming out of exhaust.

Here are the common cause of surges, stalls at stops, slow idle speed, erratic idle, it is in most cases the idle speed control air-bypass valve and/or throttle valve and upper intake, these area's get full of gunk and combustion residue over the miles and cause idle issues (stalls, low idle) like yours, Get a can of intake cleaner from any local parts store, not carb spray, intake cleaner, it is made by a company called CRC, remove the air intake hose to the engine, hold the idle high so the engine won't stall, then spray the can of cleaner into the intake while keeping the engine running, use at least 1/2 the can, shut down the engine and disconnect the battery for 5 minutes, then restart and complete a number of mixed driving

Any one of these could be cause of your problem. Sounds like maybe a spark plug coils is bad. Did you gap the plugs? Also sound like secondary fuel injectors not opening fully, and air leaks inbetween intake boots and head. Start bike and let idle Use non-chlorinated brake cleaner spray small squirt on each intake boot find the leak when the bike idles up there is a leak. You can't properly sync multiple carbs if there is even one vacuum or intake leak. Take out spark plugs keep them in their own same cylinders. Read the plugs what do they tell you. Google how to read a spark plug.

Check the Idle Air Control Valve. Any Service Engine Soon lights coming on?

The problem is that your carbeurator is gummed up. Get a can of carbeurator cleaner spray at any auto parts store. remove the air filter and put two squirts of cleaner into the air port hole. start it up. with the assistance of a helper, run it and squirt one squirt of cleaner at a time into the air hole until it no longer bogs down.

Use a hotter spark plug. They do have different heat ranges.

Check the intake manifold/s, even a small leak will make it run poor. Being stored for five years then putting it into use, you may have a blocked main jet. Sea-foam is a great product and I would have used that product to store the bike but not to get it running. It is slow acting so it doesnt work like carb cleaner.
