Carburetor needs removing and cleaning. If it has the diaphragm in the top, look for a tear.

SOURCE: My 98 Escort ZX2 manual transmisson seems to shift gear hard!

Clutch may be smooth but this is a sign of the clutch needing replaced. Some of these models have a linkage adjustment under the hood. Others are hydrallic and need fluid. Look under the hood where the steering is and see which you have and address accordingly. Good luck. Check on costs of clutch replacement.

SOURCE: hard up and down-shifting into 2nd gear - manual transmission

I have a Focus that had shifting problems. I tried different fluids, but eventually I tried Royal Purple Synchromax (I believe) and it actually shifts fairly well now. I used to hate the car for this. It has 130k miles and I like driving it now.

SOURCE: cavalier won't shift into any gear

There is a pin located on the gear select pin on the transmission side. (the piece the shift cables attach to) the wrist pin is most likely sheared. I have had the same problem.

SOURCE: 2005 TTR 125 will not shift into first gear

This is one of those issues that is really tricky to diagnose over the net but would likely take a few minutes to diagnose in person.

When it does drop into gear, does it jump or stall? Will it idle in gear, stopped with the clutch pulled in?

My initial thought is that the clutch is not being fully released (the plates are still in firm contact with eachother).

More than likely, the resolution is a fairly simple adjustment.

Hi, Anonymous for this situation I would call my local dealer or reputable shop's service/parts department and inquire about any possible quick fix or parts inquiry. If necessary transport your vehicle to the dealer or shop and have a professional technician take it for a test drive, if it is in running condition, and give you a written estimate of repairs and answer any specific questions you may have about your issue. My suzuki gz marauder won't go down into first or neutral..kick all way down but starts off in second gear..keep stalling at busy junctions.

The bike has a bent shift fork. The engine will need to be torn completely down to replace the bad fork. Check with a local Suzuki dealer as to the cost an to confirm what I believe the problem to be. I fear the cost will be over $700. Bummer. As to the engine stalling, cleaning he carb will probably fix the problem. Please rate my answer. Thanks.

Best engine oil for 98 1500LC 11,000 miles, Shifts hard

Up shifting CLUNK on a shaft drive motorcycle is caused by all the drive line slop. Don't tap the shifter with your foot when you shift. Try putting gentle pressure on the lever with your foot, then pull the clutch and shift the gear. This technique should eliminate the CLUNK.

First gear slipping or jumbing while shifting to first

our 07' gv did that when it was brand new.... it was a manufacturers flaw... if you take it to the shop they will replace it... im not a mechanic so forgive the explination... but some link join or something somewhere was actualy the wrong size or a flawed design which they have fixed now... suzuki replaced ours for free and provided the rental car to use while it was in the shop.

Bike wont shift in to gear from neutral

Sounds like possibly a clutch issue, or something inside the trans locking up. Your shift forks would make shifting harder/not go into gear.

Hard up and down-shifting into 2nd gear - manual transmission

I have seen this happen in numerous cars, I have a mazda that does that, my buddy has an 04 suzuki aerio that does that etc etc etc.... There really ins't a "fix" for that as it really is just what late model manual trannys do, all you can do is just let your car warm up. If you are really concerned you can throw a new tranny on there but once it gets broken in it will start doing that too. Sorry!
