I dont know what all you have tried so far, but check the fuel filter, usally in the tank above petcock. the compression seems fine as you had to bump start it in third gear. you can feel the compression of a bike when pushing it in gear, like a bike with bad compression you could push in first without wheel locking

Timing or valves. It's one or the other. Been through this many times on my crf250r. Actually cased a jump badly and was on the rev limit trying to pull the front up. Slipped the timing chain a tooth. Could not start it by kicking, Had to push it but it didn't run well. Start with the timing. It's easy then timing chain tensioner. Easy also...Then check valve clearance and adjust if necessary. Starts pretty easy when all thats correct.

Honda element problemsi have a 2003 awd.the rear tires are getting worn on the inside and it looks as if the rear wheels sit at an angle with the top tilting into the car.have replaced struts and...

Probably just needs an alignment. Also.............your tires will wear more evenly if you keep the tire pressure at 35PSI in all 4 tires. I don't know why but, that seems to be the best tire pressure to run on Elements.

2008 Honda CRF 250 R is hard to kickstart

Hi, Anonymous and the usual suspects are:
1. Spark plugs in bad condition or have an improper gap or are partially fouled.
2. Spark plug cables in bad condition.
3. Battery damaged or nearly discharged, should have 12.5 volts.
4. Check battery terminals for damage or corrosion, check the battery cables at "BOTH" ends for loose, corroded, or broken connectors, "INSIDE" and outside the cable harness, perform connector wiggle test and check cables with an ohmmeter if necessary.
5. Throttle controls not adjusted correctly.
6. Water or dirt in the fuel system.
7. Water or dirt in the carburetor.
8. Intake air leak.
9. Fuel tank vent hose and vapor valve plugged, or fuel line closed off, restricting fuel flow.
10. Choke valve inoperative.
11. Engine lubricant to heavy (winter operation).
12. Ignition is not functioning properly (possible sensor failure).
13. Faulty ignition coil.
14. Valves sticking.

Problem cold starting a Honda CRF250 2006

Hi, Anonymous there is a fuel valve and a choke for this scenario you will need your service manual, parts fiche, and owners manual if you can't find the best tool you ever bought for your Honda, despair not, for a mere zero $0 you can download another one.

2006 Honda CRF 250 R will not kick start

Hi, Chad_chiasso and the usual suspects are:
1. Fuel tank empty.
2. The fuel tank has old dead gas.
3. Fuel tank bottom contaminated with ethanol sludge, dirt, water, rust, etc.
4. Fuel supply valve/petcock turned off.
5. Fouled spark plugs.
6. Engine flooded as a result of overuse of the enrichner.
7. Vacuum hose to the fuel supply valve/petcock disconnected, broken, cracked, or pinched.
8. Fuel valve/petcock or filter clogged.
9. Fuel line to carburetor or throttle body pinched, kinked or blocked.
10. Carburetor float stuck.
11. Fuel injectors clogged.
12. Fuel injectors stuck open.
13. Severely discharged or a damaged battery should have 12.5 volts or more and be able to pass a proper "LOAD" test if necessary, you may have a cursory reading of 12.5 volts or more but little or zero amperage the battery is faulty and must be replaced, AGM batteries fail in this scenario more so than lead-acid batteries.
14. Check battery terminals for damage or corrosion, check the battery cables at "BOTH" ends for loose, corroded, or broken connectors, "INSIDE" and outside the cable harness, perform connector wiggle test and check cables with an ohmmeter if necessary.
15. Loose or corroded wire connection at the coil or plug between ignition sensor and ECM module.
16. Spark plug cables in bad condition and shorting check for spark leakage in the dark, cable connections loose, or connected to the wrong cylinders.
17. Ignition timing incorrect due to a faulty ignition coil, ignition module or MAP, CMP, CKP, O2, TPS, ETP, IAC sensors.
18. Faulty neutral, clutch, kickstand safety switch.
19. Faulty fuel pump or fuse or relay.
20. A stuck bent or burnt valve.
21. Tilt sensor needs a reset.
22. Security system not disarming alarm needs a reset.
23. Check for engine trouble codes.

Starting problem with honda crf250r 09 model when cod or hot

I have a honda crf250 2009 model i recently brought it off a mate. Had the same problem could not get the thing started. Missed races cause of this... I worked out how to get it started. On Cold start, turn the fuel on give the throttle 3 full pumps. Then do not touch it! Put ur hand in the middle of the handlebars if need be. Kick start the bike still may take a couple kicks but on mine its generally about 2-4 kicks. Then through out the day when u want to start it do no twist that throttle it just squirts fuel in and u may as well just pack it up!! I know this is what i have to do not saying yours will be the same but i hope it all works out!!!

I have a 2009 honda crf250r. i was riding and it shut off. i tried kicking the kick starter was locked up. there was no oil in the crank box. if i put oil in the crank box, will it help it and unlock it so...

Is this the question I just posted a answer for? You ran your motorcycle with no oil, according to what you are telling us here, I would expect the engine to be ruined. If this is the case, you will have to replace the engine and transmission.

Pay? You will pay a lot to have this repair accomplished. It is my guess that IF you can get a complete motor from somewhere and install it yourself, that will be the cheapest repair you will find. Will it be setup correctly? That is a different question. If you want your 2009 motorcycle to run like a 2009 motorcycle, have Honda replace the engine and get it set up for you.

If you bought this motorcycle from a authorized Honda dealer participating in the Honda Riders Club promotion, you can go to the club web site and get additional information there.

Im going out on a limb here ... but I would guess this work cannot be justified, economically.

I'm sorry you ruined your motorcycle because of a quart of oil.

Thanks for visiting fixya.com

Honda CRF250R , 2005 Very hard to start even when warmed up .

Your carbeurator is gummed up. You could put a gasoline addivite in the tank to try and clean up the carbeurator. I have had success with several products at auto zone stores.
