03 CRF450 R push starts and runs, will not kick start.

The bike will push start and run like a bat. I cannot kick start it and it. I noticed that when I pulled the air cleaner it appeared to have a little engine oil on the inside of the air cleaner.

The bike might have to much oil in the bike so when you try to kickstart it, it sends oil to the piston and soaks the spark plug in oil. But when you push start it the spark plug is going alot so it catches, just kicking it doesnt give enough spark tho. my bike doesnt the same and then somtimes i have to take the spark plug out and clean it with a wire brush then usually its fine. Or you could have the wrong oil in the bike, i would read the maunal to find the perfered oil. hope this helps

Compression leakdown test should be done first to determine if it has a valve wear problem which is the most common cause of your problem. Oil in the airbox boot is most commonly caused by compression blowby. This would be a function of worn piston/ring/cylinder clearances. The leakdown test would point this out also.

I noticed a button on the kick stand and remebered that one of my other bikes wont let me start the bike with the kick stand down. Is this also true with the Intruder?

possibly.
some bikes will let you start with the stand down, as long as the clutch is in, same with it in gear.
some bikes wont let it start at all in gear, or with the stand down.
All suzukis usually work the same.

I have a yamaha yz 250f 2006 bike will not start on kick start but will start with a push

if the bike push starts, i assume it runs good,
if the kick does not turn motor over, there is a spring clip that engages the kick gear that may be broken or misplaced
if the kick start turns the motor over, you have to use decomp to get just past TDC then kick

Hey just need to know how much oil the gearbox and engine holds on me crf450 08. just to clarify the gearbox oil goes on the kick starter side and the engine oil on the gear lever side. also should i warm...

there is clutch oil witch goes on the right side and then motor oil witch goes on the left side.. you should run honda oils in that bike hp4 for motor side and honda clutch oil for the clutch its in a tall red bottel..
about the levels, on the motor side(left) use the sight glass and put it half way. on the clutch side use the small screw thats on the clutch cover for a drain fill it till it starts to come out..but the easiest way to do this is to go by the service manuel specs.. you can call your local dealership to get them also

04 crf450.hard start when cold(25deg).kick for 10min.once it

1. First thing is when was the last time you had your valves adjusted
2. On cold start up twist about 15 times on your throttle, as you do that the accelerator pump in carb will shot gas in cylinder, I have a 2003 yx426 & 2005 yz450 have to do to both of them when cold out to get started

Yz450f that quit running

Yes, it does have an automatic decompression mechanism. It is a centrifugally operated mechanism and it is EXTREMELY unlikely that is causing your problems.
The two highest probabilities are:
1. Fouled spark plug. Forget what it looks like, put a BRAND NEW plug in. It is the cheapest form of diagnosis you can do. These bikes are terrible about fouling spark plugs and a fouled plug produces the exact symptoms you described.
2. Inspect your valve clearance. Tight valves will also make the bike hard/impossible to start with the kick starter. In some cases, it can be push started, but still won't kick. With tight valves, the bike, although hard starting, will run pretty good, for awhile. Eventually it will burn the valves and quit running though.
If your bike isn't kick starting fairly easily, something is wrong and needs to be addressed. The only other issue is making sure the idle speed is set per the service manual. These bikes have a fairly high idle, some as high as 1700 rpms. If it is set too low, it makes them hard to start too.

Bike is sometimes hard to start. When bike stalls and goes dead,it is hard to start again. This is a 2003 honda crf450.

There is a proper way to start the engine. Four controls are on your bike to assist in starting.
  • The choke, used when the engine is cold. Pull the red knob for choke.
  • The " Hot Start " Lever, used when the engine is hot. Pull the lever to lean the fuel mix when the engine has been running.
  • The de-compression lever, always used.
  • The throttle, used to prime the cylinder.
Don't kick, instead, push the kick lever downward. You will feel the back pressure as the piston is going upward on the compression stroke to the point the pressure is great enough that the kick lever "locks up". You are very close to TDC. NOW, pull in the de-compression lever. Push the kick lever a little bit more to get the piston past TDC. Now release the de-compression lever. Give the throttle a 1/4 turn then let it snap closed. A diaphragm in the carb gives a shot of gas when this is done. DO NOT do this multiple times because you will flood the engine. Leave the throttle closed when kicking. A flooded engine will often backfire. Now give a strong kick through the full sweep of the kick start lever. Quickly get your foot off the kick lever at the end of the kick to avoid any chance of "kickback" from the kick lever. This happens in the case of a misfire, aka > backfire. It can be very painful, and can even break a leg. I am serious about that. Repeat the process (but without the throttle priming), until the bike starts. A good battery, a clean spark plug, a clean carb and clean air filter will also aid in starting.

Gsxr power problem

It lugs around and for me at about 6k it felt like a powerband and my bike kicked me and took off like a bat out of hell (I love that analogy). Anyways it was my plugs. How many miles are on the bike? My bike only has 5k miles and the plugs were pretty fouled. Runs like a top now. It stated being sluggish down low, a week later it was worse and would almost stall on me. I changed the plugs the day it stalled on me and no more problems. Best $18 I ever spent on a bike, sadly it was to just get it to run right. Best of luck!
