Whine when air conditioner compressor engaged at lower speeds

Will whine in all gears, but most noticable at 18 mph in second, 30 mph in third, and 38 mph in fourth. Stops immediately when the compressor kicks out or A/C is turned off.

This was my thought too. However, when I took it into the Buick Dealer today, the mechanic thought it might be a throttle-body "whistle". After spending some time with it, I got a call back saying that the mechanic had found a TSB indicating that the suction-side hose to the compressor should be replaced. The TSB also indicated that the compressor should definitely not be replaced. My guess is that the suction-side hose has been re-engineered because it was found to be restricting the flow of freon, which created the excess noise. Any additional thoughts?

If it is coming from under the hood(whine)then the ac compressor is either low on oil,or it is about to go out.Sometimes ac compressors will last a good long time, but sometimes they whine right before they lock up.So look for some ac compressor problems.Have a mechanic check it out,but it will most likely need to be changed out(compressor and components).

Whine noise

Remove the drive belt to the ac compressor and spin the pulley by hand .If it feels rough or can be moved sideways then replace the bearing in the pulley (it can be separated from the compressor with out opening up the system)

I have a rear whinning noise when i drive i checked diff fluid and filled and still have noise only happens when driving

It can be gear whine, bearing whine, it needs to be listened to by a tech to decide which, but generally the gears are noisy only at certain speeds that would be around 45-65 MPH and it would come and go with being on and off the throttle. Bearing noise is there all the time.

It makes a high pitched whine at about 62 mph

Vacume line off of transmission won't alow high gear and at that speed the tranny starts screaming for relief. Find the vucume line and make sure its good and connected at both ends

Low whine while under load

The pinion depth is incorrect in the differential. This can cause excess backlash, improper bevelled gear meshing, and permanent damage to the gear set. It can be repaired most of the time by changing the shims on the pinion to allow 0.010" more penetration o the pinion into the housing.
