The bike was rewired by a known auto electrician. As i said the bike was running fine until the other day and when i came to start it the next day and it just wont start any more could the timing have sliped or something like that. I have tried everthing i can and have checked everything

  • Bill Boyd May 01, 2018

    timing doesn't slip

SOURCE: 49cc Pocket Bike Carburetor Won't Draw Fuel

first off, are you getting fuel to bulb? if not are you sure the lines aren't on carb backwards. if you are getting fuel to bulb and won't run then here's what i'de check. how's the compression, may not be making enough vacuum to draw fuel, have you removed the mixture screws and blown out passages, there is a little sreen under diaghram in some of those little carbs that gets clogged, carb base gasket?

SOURCE: 95 suzuki katana won't start however when sprayed

My guess is u have ur lines mixed up. Two fuel lines from carbs to opposite sides of petcock and vacuum line from right side of carbs goes to backside of petcock. All of the other hookups are breathers and vents.

SOURCE: Ryobi 410 mini tiller w/Walbro WT149A primer bulb won't prime. New bulb, new fuel lines, hooked up right, carb cleaned. Been sitting for several years.Runs when fuel is pumped into the fuel inlet.

hello sir, my machine will only start when pumping primmer bulb or squirting fluid in the carburetor than stops. the fuel line has broken off, in most small carburetors this is a ongoing problem.old fuel will crystallize when left in tank for a long time.plugging up ports, fuel lines, small screen in carburetor.fuel lines will dissolve clogging carb.this is why it will run when the choke is on creating a vacuum to where there is fuel forced in the carb to rum, also the gas will evaporate leaving the oil behind clogging up carb.the thing to do is remove carb. and clean out, replacing gaskets or fuel line if necessary.use carb cleaner to clean out carb.make sure to make note where fuel line go.the fuel filter broke off of fuel line letting debris get in carb plugging it up.the muffler is known to clog up a lot on these machines where they want run. the compression should be 60 to 120 lbs any thing below 60 is junk. when adjusting the carb screws turn in all the way than turnout 1 1/4 turns turn in slow until machine runs also you need to check for spark by removing plug and grounding against engine to check spark, ok.a new spark plug would be a good ideal too , if you are going to make these repairs use new fuel line and filter, hope this helps, any comments welcome, thank you, !!

Nobody has messed around with the ignition timing in any way?

If it has stood for a long time(i.e years..) the fuel may have degraded to the point that it\'s useless.

The carbs will smell of fuel, but are you sure that fuel is being pumped to them in sufficient quantity? Try disconnecting a fuel line, crank the engine a few revolutions to see if fuel is pumped out.

Try gravity feeding the carbs. Use a can of fuel connected to the carbs, held above the engine. Get somebody to crank the engine and see if it fires up. If the engine fires up, suspect the fuel pump.. or fuel lines.

An air leak can also cause non-starting. The usual cause is the inlet manifold gasket. Any air leaking through the gasket can cause your non-starting problem. Go back and check that no dirt has been picked up by the gasket before you fitted it/it hasn\'t been ripped. Check that the inlet manifold has been correctly tightened.

It doesn\'t sound as though you have much of a problem .. more of a \'niggle\'.

Turns over but will not fire, after heavy rain

simple, you are getting water into the fuel tank, few possibles 1st the seal has gone on the fuel filler cap,2nd the fuel filler neck pipe is corroded. replace these parts, get the fuel tank drained clean out all the muck, blow the fuel lines with air,fit new filters clean carb ,id advise also bypassing fuel vapour seperator and fit a new fuel pump and whilst your there change the carp flange gasket....this will sort everything.

It sounds like you have a stuck valve on the carb. I recommend taking the carb off, taking it apart and cleaning everything well with carb cleaner. When you remove the lower bulb on the carb there will be a float valve inside. Check the tiny needle valve for any residue. If it still looks bad (the valve) after cleaning you may need to replace it.

Usually a good cleaning once every year or two will take care of any carb problems.

Honda cx500 only fires on 1 cylinder

Gary,
Pull the bowl from the left carb and remove and clean the float needle and jet. It sounds to me that this passage is plugged. You might as well clean the whole set since you have it off.
It is a common problem for those carbs on the older bikes for the jets to plug up from old gas, or material such as rust in the tank. Check your fuel filter if you have one. If not I would suggest you install one when you are done.
