Can some body tell me how to fix a speedometer on gsxr1000 2002

Has the body computer ever been replaced? If so, it must be locked to the vehicles via codes, or the speedometer and odometer won't work correctly.

Its very good that you quickly observe this, nd its gona save u some money, bcos such faults can fry the automatic clutch fibres,and the gear ratio likewise,,,its the speedometer sensor that's faulty , so if u can fix it now,.it will not affect the valve body,,nd it wilk save u from changing the whole gear box

Check engine light ,abs , air bag lights etc.... come on when key turned on ?
Fuse IPC/HVAC BATT 10 amp located in the left IP junction block . Do you know where this junction box is ?
Does the heater an A/C work ? If so the fuse isn't the problem .
Speedometer
The speedometer is a road indicator. The vehicle speed sensor (VSS) is a permanent magnet generator which is located on the transaxle. The VSS sends an input to the PCM whenever the transaxle differential carrier turns. The PCM then buffers the VSS signal. The PCM transmits the VSS signal to the following components at 4000 pulses/mile through CKT 817:
• The instrument cluster
• The cruise control module
• The radio (uplevel)
The instrument cluster uses the input in order to indicate the vehicle speed on the speedometer.

The BCM controls the instrument cluster indicators through the SPI serial data communication bus. Refer to Body Control Module System Check in Body Control System.

I would say the speed sensor in the transaxle is the problem with both issues. The body computer needs the speedo to tell which gear to use, and second gear is the default when the system is in fail mode.

Could be a Bad VSS ( Vehicle Speed Sensor ) or an Electrical Problem for your Speedometer ! For Check Engine maybe a coincidence or a code telling a Sensor is Bad.. ! Most of the Subarau I saw from the year has a Check Engine with one or many code.. several time it's a Pcm Problem.. because all the code tell's you at the end if everything if fine : Change PCM.. so first i Would check your Vehicle Speed Sensor ! And Check the Code from the Check Engine !

You have to change a speedometer.
Call junk yards tell them that you are looking for a speedometer cluster for your car and and also the miles on your car

Can you tell if it is cable driven from transmission? Probably not. Electronically driven from either crankshaft, dist or flywheel. Sensor somewhere tells speedometer or computer. Please get a repair manual from autoparts store, Good Luck!

it is most likely the instrument cluster itself u can get a reman from dealer and keep mileage accurate

well i am going to tell you that your problem is an easy fix and shouldn't be expensive at all. what it most likely is is that your speedometer cable has a medal rod that goes into your transmission and in most cases it will wear down to where it gets loose and will freely spin and in some cases it will catch but it is most likely the speedometer cable

without getting your DTC's scanned, you have either a bad speedo sensor, or, and this is my take on this; a broken wire at the speedo sensor on the transmission. This is a FixYa.
