I wouldn't panic about it. I would only be concerned if it was backfiring while it's running.
When the engine is shut off the momentum spins the engine around a couple of times and hot spots in the exhaust ignite the raw fuel.
Cleaning the carbon out of the exhaust may help.

SAE 15W-40 is what i used to use
synthetic? not sure about that one there may be oil pres switch that could give you a problem.

First locate the oil pressure switch and see if you can bypass it,then see if it runs. If not check the fuel filter and fuel pump,make sure solonoid for fuel pump is kicking on.

Remove the air cleaner and inside near the throat of the carb is two bolts holding the carb to the intake remove these. Unhook the fuel line and twist the carb to allow the linkages to remove.
