What exactly needs cutting to carb rubbers on my 1991 exupto boost power?

I would like to know how to change ignition timing

How many pounds boost 5psi , 15? what?

what year, what engine, nobody can answer this , lacking hard facts.

forced induction is not that simple.

you need to control AFR under boost, and retard the timing.

that means knowing exactly what you have now ,EFI wise?. if it even is. Is itr a CARB engine?

read Greg Banish books sold on amazon first , then hack.

or you will fail, (melted pistions,bent rods)

they made lots of picks, some with CARBs. back when.

surely you know the year , the exact model and what engine is there.

that be like first , hacking the spark and fuel systems.

Try 5psi , more will likely bend rods.

The first trick is to find out of your stock MAP sensor can do the boost you are using. if not that is FIRST.

IF the engine is MAF based, then same question.

a way to increase AFR, use a linear progressive fuel regulator.,and a fuel pump that can do max required fuel under full boost.

have a plan for spark retard.

have a plan for engine ping (knock /detonation) Use a aftermarket knock sensor. to do this automatically.

The best way is custom ECU.

2nd best or worse is piggy backs. (it\'s a pray thing)

The plan is to have a fail safe system that cuts spark , if engine knocks or fuel pressure goes low. for any reasons (a new fuel sensor added)

that the nut shell all covered in Banish books or Jeff Hartmans.

can your stock injectors do your unstated level of boost.?

the ippon page lists all these engines. a bunch !

now to attempt and answer, not knowing what engine or ignition option

the ECU has what is called and Ignitor output.

what you need , at the minimum is to interceed this pin.

to the spark coil. (s)

and then delay that by X amount, under boost.

a piggy back does that

a new ECU does that (tables)

or a sold dedicated, spark delay box , just for boost. (any)

if you buy the ECU, new. the first will be, boost levels.

then caculations of required fuel at full boost

matching pump

and matching injectors.

then tune it from scratch.

that is the best way.

the other way is attempting to fool a stock ECU;.

It starts cutting out around 55 mph

sounds like carbs need taking apart and cleaning, possible jet piston sticking or damaged rubbers in vacuum carbs

2002 saab 9-3 turbo car starts and runs when driving during acceleration turbo boost shoots to the red and car shuts down P0300 random misfire what can I do.

by the sound of it you could have one or both of these problems.
1. a vacuum leak which is causing the car to over boost.
2. ignition fault which is causing the car to die.

1. look in the engine bay and look for small rubber hoses, check all you can find and look for cracks or splits. make sure you check the small rubber hose on the turbo itself.

2. you may have a faulty spark plug, coil pack, HT lead (depending on which engine you have)

1 is probably your boost problem
2 is your cutting out problem

I need float specs on 86 chev pu quadrajet what is the setting

You need the carb number to get the exact setting but 13/32 should be enough to keep your truck running without any trouble. If you can smell gas a lot then cut it back to 11/32 and if you are having trouble with acceleration or cutting out, bump it up to 15/32. You can get the exact number from a build sheet from a carb kit with the carb number or by vehicle too. Hope this helps.

Idle is too high

It would either be a carb problem or a vacuum leak. Pulldown the carbs for inspection, soaking & cleaning. Inspect the rubber coupling between carbs and intakes as well as vacuum hoses/lines to fuel petc0ck. Particular attention to cracks on rubber components.

Have a 2002mtd front tine m.n.#21A-333 A129 just bought its been sitting in garage for 4 years. Cleaned out gas carb ect but starts for only a min then quits. Help...Thanks

It's still in the carb. Needs to be cleaned out really well, all the jet and orifices cleared. Soaking in carb cleaner for several hours and blown out. Also, depending which carb you hsve, it may have a rubber seat that will deteriorate and swell, cutting off gas supply. If it has a rubber tipped needle, that does not apply.

ello m8,,hows things,,clean out the air filter 1st, change all your plugs mr,try that , if nothing u will need to get the carbs balanced to by a bike shop,mechanic,,unless u have carb gauges,,, itl be easier if they do it,, try these 1st m8,, if no joy come back and il go threw step 2 with yuh,,

could be associated with ur turbo, "boost lag" have u turned up your boost latly?? the talon stock turbo is only good for 12-14 psi 14 max any higher and it sounds very bad on the motor

Carb bowl

The first thing I want to say is this.

If you have a chance to dump this Robin/Subaru Genset please do so!

I say this because the Manual docs for these R/S engines and/or Gensets are so poorly written in comparison to say Briggs & Stratton or Honda engines that it's like DAY and NIGHT in comparison.

My personal GENERAC 5500 Genset (that uses a B&S 10HP engine) Users Manual is like a Chilton Auto Manual in comparison to the R/S literature. No offense, but it's the truth!

It would be nice to have the WHOLE engine model # for starters, but seeings it's a 10hp Robin/Subaru it no doubt doesn't even have the TORX head style Carb bolts/studs requiring Torx sockets.

If it does by chance - then I'm not sure what size they normally are, as I don't have the exact model #, so I guess you're on your own there and will have to find a set of Torx sockets first.

If the Float Bowl has no Main Jet external adjustment screw assy at the bottom of the Float Bowl, or retainer bolt/nut, then the Float Bowl is screw threaded on in a CW direction.

You may have to use a rubber sleeve (like a 2" cut piece of rubber inner tubing from an old bike tire) and slip it over the bowl to help unscrew it. A smaller rubber band type wrench will work also, but I would hand tighten it so as not to damage anything.

It shouldn't be tightened on that tight to begin with. Be very careful replacing it and the seal gasket (or sometimes an O-ring) making sure the threads are lined up exactly right otherwise you will cross-thread the Bowl or the Carb Body!!

I can't be any more help then that, as that's all I have to work with here.
