hi ,
check the following :
1 - old fuel or water in fuel ?
2- Drain the carbies
3- timing is out and need adjusting
4- Remove bowl from the carbies and give the jets a clean .
try all this and let me know how you go .
I have meant owners on road trips that have well over 100,000 miles on thier Bemmers and no problems, just do all the maint that it requires and you have years left of happy use.
i would try checking my ground cables.try looking up the codes.this can be done for free at the local autozone or someplace like them.
i would also check the alternator/voltage regulator and there grounds.
