Static electricity...

Generally considered a nuisance... can cause serious damage to electronic equipment... (it is STORED power)

Thunder & lightening are STATIC electricity...

Wiki definition included (below)

For commercially available ELECTRICITY...
(usa) "currents" ... All electricity functions because of a DIFFERENCE in potential. When you start adding wires then you are harnessing that potential DIFFERENCE into usable energy.

Direct current & Alternating current... Generally referred to as "AC" & "DC"

Most all of the power grid you are looking at on power poles around your community... have "AC" flowing on the power wires
good for powering residential housing and commercial power applications

Immediately below those wires ... The phone wires
have to run about 10 feet below the "AC" wires...
Phone systems run on "DC" because it is quiet
(communications systems).

Alternating CURRENT can be rectified into Direct...
and Direct CURRENT can be inverted into Alternating.

Generators,
solar panels & BATTERIES output DC
Which can be accumulated and stored.

Alternators
output AC... and because AC is less susceptible to magnetic interference... it can travel great distances with very little loss.

Very interesting topic for further research ... and the principals of both... as argued by no less than Nicola Tesla & Thomas Edison.

Hope this helps

Explain the difference between static and current electricity

Static means the energy charge is present but is not being used. Current means that energy is set in motion.

I get shocked at the hand grip the longer engine runs & as rpms increase, also get shocked when shutting blower off. Thanks

I believe that you are experiencing static electricity build up. As air passes through the blower, it creates a static charge. These normally bleed off over time.

When the air is dry, the electrons can hang around on your body for a long time, charging you up to thousands of volts. That can last until you touch something that can conduct them away, like a doorknob or your significant other.

You are not the first to experience this phenomenon.

My daughter went to turn the tv off and had static electricity on her and tv went off and won't come back on

That tells me there is a bigger problem than that. I have several TVs in my house, none of which have ever been affected by static electricity before.

Electric shock from an unplugged Nintendo wii - how is this possible

It was probably just static electricity. Sometimes the body build up static electricity by just walking on a carpet or from friction of the clothes being worn. He then got the shock when he somehow grounded himself.

I have the Bose Companion 3 Series II speakers. I ordered them through the Bose website. However, I continuously hear static. Mute, low volume, with music, etc. I hear static noise. The only way to...

Hello,

I have had totally the same problem before, and I have discovered that it is actually because of the electric current running through the speakers when the volume is low or muted.

I am afraid to tell you that the only solution to this problem is to raise the volume, as it is not a malfunction in the speakers but in the electric current running through them.

Good luck.

My receiver is making a static through my speakers even when the volume is turned all the way down

Check the electric outlet to make sure the polarity isn't reversed, which can cause static. Also, check the outlets in the room to make sure they are all grounded which can also produce static. Also, certain cell phones operating a different frequencies can produce a static.

DIAL TONE CONTINUES DOES NOT CEASE

Have you tried plugging and then plugging the phone back in. This should discharge all static electricity.
I had the same trouble once. If you are using a service such as Comcast Digital Voice, then restart all equipment (this apply's to VOIP services also). if it still persist then try a different phone. If it still persist then contact your phone company and explain all the solutions that you have tried.

Resolution and Static noise

Right click the desktop and hit properties, then hit the settings tab and change your resolution to 1024 x 600.

can't help you much with the "static" noise other than to say that computers have moving parts and electrical current travelling through them, which generates noise.
