SOURCE: 2009 triumph rocket 3 classic

not sure here as never changed them i just fit a set of pipes from motor auto factor then remove them for the annual inspection which i would advise you to do but you have to be carefull here as the police will pull you up and do a roadside check if the bike sounds too noisy then they will impound the bike till a fine is paid and then it can only be released to a authorised dealer for repair ,but this is spain plus the tow truck charges on top of the fine .I bought two pipes for my 1981 kawasaki 750 for 100 euros each and welded them on but the pipes were italian made and came with a certificate of homoglonation to present when i take the bike for its annual inspection ,and from what i remember they were welded on the other end as well as i had to cut a bit off so they fitted the wider down pipe of my bike. You have to be so carefull nowdays in any country as they are politically correct and noise polution is something a local traffic cop can make his quota of nicks up to keep the boss happy .

2006 Triumph Rocket III Classic Motorcycle.

Question edited for clarity and add maker.
Question moved from Cars and Trucks to model category.

I have seen this happen due to air locks in fuel pipes where they are routed too close to hot surfaces. It does appear to be a known issue.

There are two o2 sensors on the vehicle one in the exhaust manifold right off the cylinder head and one in the exhaust pipe after the catalytic converter. I'm unaware of the cmp sensor?

Starting problems sprint st 2004 model

2008 Models
  • Each of the three 2008 models (Rocket III, Touring and Classic) had a liquid-cooled, dual-overhead-cam inline three-cylinder 2294cc engine. The Rocket III--with a base a base MSRP of $14,999--weighed 704 lbs. with gas and produced 140 bhp at 6,000 rpm and 147 foot-lbs. of torque at 2,500 rpm. The Touring edition had an MSRP starting at $16,999 that increased to $17,299 and had two-tone paint. The Classic edition had an MSRP of $15,699 and focused around "laid-back" ergonomics, as stated by Triumph, and had identical performance as the Rocket III.
2009 Models
  • The same models from 2008 carried over into 2009. The Rocket III, Touring edition and Classic edition also have the same performance specifications as the 2008 models respectively.
2010 Models
  • The Rocket III Roadster edition released for the first time in 2010. Triumph labeled it by saying, "[The] Roadster moves out of pure cruiser territory and transcends into that of the ultimate muscle street fighter." The Roadster is available in metallic or matte black. MSRP for the Roadster is $13,999. Powered by a 2294cc inline three-cylinder motor, which produces 146 bhp at 5,750 rpm and 163 foot-lbs. of torque at 2,750cc, the Roadster brakes with Nissan four-piston fixed calipers equipped with a Nissan anti-lock braking system (ABS) to the front and Brembo two-piston floating caliper with Nissan ABS to the rear. Filled with gas, the 2010 Roadster weighs 807 lbs.
For those interested in touring, the 2010 Rocket Touring edition comes standard with a headlight, luggage rack, adjustable passenger backrest, adjustable highway peg mounts, Roadster windscreen, auxiliary lamps, quick release sissy bar and aesthetic upgrades like drilled oval mirrors. MSRP for the Touring edition is $16,999 or $17,299, with two-tone paint. The Touring edition does not come standard with an anti-lock braking system. Weighing 869 lbs. filled with fuel, the Touring edition produces 105 bhp at 6,000 rpm and 150 foot-lbs of torque at 2,000 rpm.

Have a 2004 yamaha classic changed to K& D pipes ran fine then 2 years ago after an oil change it started backfiring on deceleration and has gotten worse...have spent over 7 hundred dollars and no one...

Well - the front pipe has to be removed to change the oil filter on this bike, so it's very likely that when reinstalled the mechanic did not get it back in place correctly. Couple that with the likelyhood that he re-used the old exhaust gasket and this is your most likely cause for the backfire - a simple exhaust leak. Other typical causes for exhaust backfires are insufficient valve clearance, burnt valves or incorrectly adjusted carbs. In my experience the most common cause for exhaust backfire is a leak in the exhaust circuit which can draw in fresh air during decelleration.

A clunck noise changing gear

Hi
This does sound like a gearbox problem, either where the cogs lock together (the dogs go into recesses) or the shift forks themselves
The dogs do wear after high mileage which can make them slip out of gear
Ive never heard of a gearbox smoothing out over such low mileage, but I suppose it is just possible
You could get the gearbox 'blueprinted' (i.e. to manufacturers exact specifications) but this will cost a bomb !
Your best bet is to complain again & at least get a ride on another rocket3, or get it sorted under warranty

Ride safe

2007 650 yamaha vstar popping through the rear cylinder exhaust

First off did you buy it new? Second has it gone through its break in tune up yet?Did you do the re jeting? My guess is it was re jeted wrong & neeeds to be re jeted again or could also need more air(upgraded air kit) or a tfi or power comand fuel mod.My bike also poped untill I did the air & fuel upgrades & them upgrades will also give you a much needed house power needed for this rig.

Bring it to a shop & have it looked at.......

Good luck
