Where is the clutch fluid resivor?

Where is the clutch fluid resivor on the 86 Yamaha Venture Royal 1300?

  • Anonymous Jul 23, 2009

O.K., not that I know what I am talking about but I was told the clutch on the 86 model is hydrolic. What is happen is that as the bike is being ridden so for 25 mile open road, I notice that my clutch lever becomes spongy and harder to shift. If I stop and the bike does not go into neutral the bike will not start. I have to get it back into neutral and if I am not careful the bike will die when I shift into first. However, if I pump the clutch lever a few times the pressure builds up and it will work for a while.
The little switch at the end of the clutch level came loose and I put it back and secured it. I will clean the contacts on it tomorrow and see how it responds. Didn't know if that switch was part of my problem. Until it came loose the bike would start in gear if the clutch was pull in. Thanks for your reply and for any additional help/advice you might have

the problem is mechanical, not the electric switch, make sure all oils in your bike are at proper level, is it is probably using the engine oil. if all levels are good, an o ring or check valve in the mechanisim is failing, allowing air to get into it

You have 2 issues....clutch switch not working properly...the plunger needs to pop out in order for you to start in gear.
The clutch sponginess is due to air in clutch fluid or low fluid level in the reservoir at the clutch lever.....refill the reservoir and bleed the clutch slave at the rubber flap on top of left crankcase cover.
