Idles with choke on - dies immediately with choke off

Will only start with choke on - if I let it run with choke on the exhaust pipe glows red. I can take the choke off if i keep reving it and the pipe quits glowing. It will not keep running with choke off. I replaced the diaphram and the two o-rings also the needle valve had a bad o-ring I replaced it too. I'm at a loss. I cleaned the carb very good. Help!!

Your pilot circuit is not working right. You got an air leak somewhere in the carb. In my case it was the after market fuel/air screw. The o-ring wasn't seeding properly. Check your hot start and choke to make sure they are fully closed in the off position. Make sure your fuel/air screw is working properly. Check the boot on the front off the carb for a leak. Start the bike and spray starter fluid around the carb. If it rev's up, replace the boot. Hope that help. These are tricky to trouble shoot and get right. Good luck.

2003 dodge truck dies, exhaust glows red, why?

sound like you need to have the catalytic converter checked. when a catalytic converter gets plugged up it will cause the exhaust pipe to get really hot or red. and show the symptoms you are describing. a good muffler shop should be able to test it. good luck

Yamaha xt225 serow front exhaust pipe glows red within 5mins of starting also running rough

Fueling issue running far to lean, choke makes the circuit richer so it will run , lean running causes over heating and serious engine damage if its running red hot, check the plug for white burnt or blistering will show lean running. Compression test to make sure the piston ring and barrel are not damaged over 110psi. Is the exhaust blocked restricted or dented ?

Was running great then it just would not start and when it did it started idling fast now the exaust will glow red

if engine is running without missfire check catyletic converter for plugging also very rich running will cause exhaust to glow but will cause alot of black smoke from tail pipe I dont reccomend driving vehicle till exhaust or rich running is fixed can lead to engine failure

I have 2006 TTR-250 with nomods and only 200 miles on it. Like another owner, I have problems running except on choke and have seen the pipe glowing red at idle. The bike has always been hard starting. ...

Well the glowing red header pipe and the fact that its hard to start is a pretty good sighn that your VALVES need adjusted.on a four stroke bike you have to adjust the valves about every 6 months to a year( and more often if you run it at high RPMs alot) i have both 2-strokes and 4-strokes bikes and have had this same problem with my 4-strokes(honda&yamaha) if you get a manuel and are somewhat mechanicaly inclined you can adjust them your self but if your not, i would take it in and have it done because if not done properly its easy to bend or break a valve( and i think yours has 4 valves.2-intake and 2-exhaust) And head work is not cheep!!!! but a adjustment on the valves is!!!!! good luck....
