If water is in fuel tank, drain and refill with clean fuel. Replace fuel filter. Remove spark plug and crank engine over several times to clear cylinder of possible water. Clean and dry plug, reinstall, refill oil and try to start engine.
You may get a pleasant surprise.
Open up the air box and let it dry out. Check fuel for water. Remove the spark plug. Turn over the engine and check for water blowing out. Replace the oil and plug then try to start. If this fails you may have more serious problems.
If it happens again, first always lift up on tail end to drain the exhaust. second drop down and pull plug on air box and remove air cleaner. third pull spark plug and crank engine to blow water out of cylinder. last install spark and crank over. it should fire up. if your only option is to ride it home be easy and replace all fluids as soon as possible. i would have your buddy tow ya to be safe.
