SOURCE: carb

No! It will not work on your bike! Save yourself some major grief by sending it to me!  But seriously folks... it will work great once whatever jetting changes that may be required are done. I'm thinking you'll have to do some throttle cable rigging and possibly adapters for the air boot and/or intake manifold. I have no experience with this conversion so I'm just assuming. Taking the carbs off for measurements would answer all those questions. Certainly a doable project and a mass improvement over the vacuum slide Mikuni!! I have every intention of doing a project like this once I'm back in my home state of Michigan. Just in my initial thought process I believe I would pick the 39mm carb over the 41mm carb. My primary reason would be to maintain and/or improve low end. There will already be a marked increase in top end even going to the smaller bore due to the superior flow design of the FCR carb. Good luck in your project.... I'm jealous! If you ever think of not doing the project for whatever reason I'd be interested in buying your carb

2008 dr-z400sm. Always started first time, no problems. Bike has not been used for 3 weeks, battery has been on trickle charge. Bike will not start on choke, battery is fine, is it the carburetor - do I...

When not using your motorcycle on a regular basis, always put some fuel stabilizer in the gas. If the gas seems stale drain the tank and mix the old fuel with good fuel by in your automobile or lawnmower and burn it there (no waste). Put fresh fuel in the motorcycle tank. Try draining the carburetor bowl, pull the fuel line off at the tank, put a squirt of carburetor cleaner down the fuel line. Chevron Techron is an excellent fuel additive for cleaning up a gummy carburetor. Be sure and check the the spark plug in the motorcycle is sparking and not fouled. If you check the spark plug for spark right before you are going to try and start the bike, put an eye dropper full of gas into the spark plug hole right before you screw the plug in to prime the machine.

I have a 52 plate suzuki DRZ 400 SM and sometimes

Get yourself some " Contact cleaner" aerosol to clean the contacts in your ignition barrel. Access should be fairly easy if you remove the headlight and fairing.
Sounds like you have been in mud or dust, contamination has most likely got into the switch.
Check and clean the kill switch on the handlebars while you are at it.
Happy Trails!

Suzuki drz 400sm

They should be around 33hp at the rear wheel. They should wheelie ok, though you will need to try a bit for decent ones.
