If you have power going in but nothing coming out.replace ignition coil as far as the pulse generator that is located by the stator coil it sends the signal to the ignition coil when to fire

No spark at plugs. Has power to coil

By power to coil do you mean spark comes out of coil tower or only the feed wire to the coil has power ? If only the feed wire has power the coil may be bad. Which engine do you have ?

2006 bmw/will not start but will turn over

sounds like no spark so check for spark at plugs if no spark check for low tension feed to coil/distributer if have low tension power which i would think you will then its a new coil pack/distributer if all these are ok then check for fuel to injection system ,remove a plug turn engine over and look/smell for fuel coming out of plug port let me know how this goes

I checked wire and plugs to coil, ignitor unit, and fuse, all seemed ok.

suspect Coil, check HT high tension side of spark if none then check LT low tension side you should see a spark on the points when they open if that is working then suspect coil is defective and needs replacement. also check points setting to see they are actually opening enough and are not dirty contacts.

I hope this was helpful

How to check if the spark plug fire

Hi there ,
Please remove your plug wire from plug. If you have removable cap of wire tip, just remove it. Then use the plier ( with good insulation) to hold your wire. Use non electrical conducting shoes. Then make a gap ( about 1 mm) between wire tips and metal body ( or engine ) of your bike. Short start your bike and see how the the wire tips spark the electricity to your bike. If it has nothing your coil or coil incoming power is fail. If your have blue spark, you have tip top condition of coil.
Best regards, vote please, Jay

No power to fuel pump and no spark jump power to

Spark comes to the plugs, via through the ignition switch ( in the on position) to the primary side of coil. Possibilities ignition switch, distributor cap , rotor, plug wires, coil, control module. If you remove the coil, control module these can be tested at Autozone for free.

1987 Ford Ranger. Won't fire.

Ignition module comes to mind. If you've tested for spark (holding spark plug wire near the block when cranking) and the cap and rotor are good, it seems the module is the only other area left to try. Best of luck Patrick. Please post back with any other questions.

Getting weak fire to the plugs. Why? Won't start

weak spark is generally from a failing coil, or low voltage to coil (should be 12v on suply side)

I have spark coming from the coil to the dist by using a screw driver to ground it to something and got spark and then tried it again and got nothing. I am not sure what the hi tension lead is ( sorry) and were is it located on the coil? if so I did try the spark on the coil.

Im not getting any spark from one of side of my 2 cyclinder kawasaki ninja 500 EX. Its an 1987. I have replaced the plug wires and the pickup coils. I switched the coil packs and both work. Im just not...

Hi,

To my knowledge, a 1987 Kawasaki EX500 uses a TCBI with digital advance to fire the ignition coils upon receipt of pulse from the trigger/pickup coils.

Since the pickup coils are new, and you have swapped the ignition coild, replace the high tension wires and checked/replace the spark plugs, the the only cmponent left is the CDI (electronic ignition system).

Hope this be of initial help/idea. Pls post back how things turned up or should you need additional information.

Good luck and kind regards.
