These are a nightmare to remove. You will need a long and thin walled socket to reach into the hole. There is very little room between the flats on the plug and the wall of the hole. I am sure it is 5/8" but not absolutely certain as I let the spanner go with the bike when I sold it. The one I had was about 12" long and it only just reached in.
