To me it sounds like the coil is breaking down and not working at higher RPM's. You can take them off and have them tested at a service shop.

SOURCE: four wheeler back fires

If the motor has two carbs then balance the carbs. Balancing the carbs basically means being certain the slides on both carbs open up simultaneously. If one carb opens sooner than the other then it 'drives' the other carb and can cause the backfire. Other things can can cause a backfire but lets start here first.

SOURCE: misfire forward cylinder

First you'll need to get a jet kit from West coast star. Then you'll need to jet the carbs to run equally. This may take some trial and error. Another thing that worked on my bike was the upgraded coil kit they sell. It's almost double the voltage of the stock coils and comes with better insulated wires for a more uniform resistance. I haven't had this problem since. It'll make the cylinders fire evenly and save you from those pestiferous fouled plugs. I hope this helps.

SOURCE: Back firing and doesn't fire on on cylinder until warm

Typical of xv,s itcould be a fuel blockage or damaged diaghram in carb! check all hoses!

You have to test all the electronics on the bike to figure out if you have a bad CDI box. A CDI box can test good and still be bad. Your problem sounds more like a bad spark plug cap. Unscrew the cap from the end of the wire and take an OHM reading on the cap. If it is higher or lower than 5000 OHMs replace the cap . A plug cap from NGK runs about $5. Replace them both for about $10 it should take care of the problem.

On 1995 Suzuki Intruder vs805 how do I adjust the split cable between carbs , it has two carbs , the problem I am having is that my back cylinder is loading up and back firing at idle , at low rpms and...

I don't know the specific system, but back then it was common to split the throttle cables with no adjustment. You need to sync the carbs. However- chances are, if you haven't messed with anything, the carbs are dirty. I just had mine cleaned, the bike had sat for a while. The process includes synching them if you take it to a mechanic, but honestly, they probably won't need to do it either, if that's the problem. Trust me though- you mess with it, and it just needs a cleaning, you'll make it so much worse. If this bike sat for a while, I'd look at the cleaning, my guy charges $75 per carb, out the door no hassles. I rode it Saturday, plan on riding it again Friday.

Front cylinder not firing on my 2000 yamaha v star classic 1100

Sounds like its the float in the front carb is sticking, causing it to flood the front cylinder with too much fuel. Need to clean carbs, reset float levels, and synch them. Running it like this will wash the oil out of the cylinder, causing it to lose compression.

1983 CJ-7 Had someone put water in gas tank? Blew out lines, rebuilt carb and cleaned out, cleaned tank, gas dryer and new fuel, new fuel filter (clear), new fuel pump, replaced rotor cap, plug wires,...

You put something back the wrong way.....any amount of water in the tank, carb or whatever WILL NOT cause the engine not to fire.....check any wiring/rewiring you did for accuracy

1985 Virago 1000 just had Carbs rebuild because I have alot of gas pouring out front cylinder pipe it not firing on front cylinder got Carbs back rebuilt put them on and still have same problems any ideas

Sounds like you still have an issue wit the carbthat feeds the front cylinder. (A sticking float, or dirt in the needle will allow fuel to keep running)

Engine idles smoothly but at higher rpm it faulters and back fires out of exhaust and runs rough

back fires out of exhaust implies too much gas at high end. caused by : dirty air filter, carb setup wrong(high float), ignition trouble.
a miss from poor ignition on the next stroke can be too wet even when the carb is set too lean so rule out the ignition problem. rule out the air filter problem. clean carb.

Have fuel starts dies then won`t fire leave for a while then it does the same again

if it has not been serviced, remove any fuel that is in tank, remove the tank and remove gas shut off and clean the screen, remove spark plug and do compression check on each cylinder, remove carbs and clean/rebuild(carb kit),replace the float needle valve assembly.it will be a little pricey but its worth it,sounds like fuel restriction to carbs, thats why I suggest at least fuel tank shut off screen clean,if you want to just drain carb float bowls of fuel to make sure that there is no water in them first before any disassembly try that, its possible the may be the problem.I have done carb clean with a dynajet kit with K&N filter and an aftermarket performence exhaust, carb synch, and fuel mix adjust ran like champ, but did not check fuel tank,it had water in gas tank, had to drain tank, fuel lines, fuel pump, and carbs again.ran fine after that, hope that helps or at least points you in right direction.

Engine is not getting fuel to rear cylinder

Check your carb floats. Had similar problem and that's what it was.
