When i lift the bike up it dies i have already disconnected the side stand safety switch so that's not it. It idles fine when leaning on stand but dies when stood up or rocked side to side.

I can rev the bike up while leaning to the side or sitting on the side stand and its idles fine.if i rev it up and jump on it sometimes i can get it to go but it then dies when i turn or soon after while riding straight. every now and then i hear a ding or louder noise in the lower casing? of the engine. i think its the lower.... but it sounds fine normally and it was riding fine before it stopped wanting to be stood up.

I removed key switch on a 2008 yamha star 650 when I put it in gear it shuts off

Here are some possible causes:

Low idle RPM: If your idle RPM is set too low, the bike may shut off when you put it in gear. You can consult a manual to see what the RPM should be.
Side stand switch: Most bikes have a safety switch that shuts down the engine if the side stand is still out. Check if the side stand is still out and if it is, try putting it up.
Clutch lever switch: Most bikes have an electrical switch in the clutch lever as a safety feature so that you can't start it in gear unless the clutch is in. This switch could be faulty.
Safety control box: This box checks all the safety features and kills the engine if needed. It could be faulty.
It's best to take your bike to a professional mechanic who can diagnose and fix the issue for you unless you can check off each of the above as the problem. https://www.manualslib.com/manual/833178/Yamaha-Xvs650.html

My 1981 yamaha exciter 185 dies when i put it in gear i've already tried adjusting clutch still dies. was running fine for prior 3 months

The bike will either have a side stand cut out switch or a clutch cut out switch.

Both these will make the bike die when the side stand is down or the clutch is not pulled in

I have a 92 fzr 600 when i engage my clutch amd shift into first it dies like the clutch isnt engaged. i checked the clutch cable and it seems to be working fine

With the engine not running can you select 1st gear pull in the clutch lever and push the bike with no difficulty, if you cant, it may be the clutch plates have become stuck together, this can occure from standing for long periods, if you can push the bike it may be the neutrol safety switch, or the side stand safety switch have become faulty, and cutting the bike out as a precaution

I have a 1997 tw200. It runs and idles fine, but the second I put it into gear it dies. It sounds electrical not mechanical. Rode the bike less than a week ago and it ran like a top. I even tried going...

Sound like it could be a problem with the side-stand cut-off switch. (It is to prevent you riding away with the side-stand down.) They are notorious for getting crud in them and sticking.

Hope this helps!
