Its your fuel pump if you can't hear it. And its inside your tank. Not a hard fix if you have a book that tells you how to remove it. Alot of procedures to follow to get it right. And yes it does work off a relay.

SOURCE: When I start riding after about a mile or two the

FI stands for Fuel Injecton. Your fuel injection sensors have found a problem and the on-board computer chip is telling you. You must have a dealer read the computer code to find out what the problem is.
Could you take a moment and rate my answer? Thanks!

SOURCE: 99 cbr 1100xx short in head light system causing

the problem is within the wiring system. there is a loom that gathers all wires which is used at time of manufacture to test that the bike has been wired properly. once tested the loom is capped and has no other usage. this loom is not depicted in the wiring diagram and over time it degrades and shorts out causing the FI light to come on. the fix is to cut it out. I went through this on my 99 Blackbird. I found this fix on the blackbird site posted by a fellow from Britain.

F1 light is on and bike won't start, what do you think the problem would be?

All questions need FULL 'year make model' as the first 3 words in all questions, or we guess.

The FI light is the equivalent of a CEL in your car. The ECU has detected an abnormality with one of the sensors, check the code and see what's up. Yes what he said...you will need a service manual to guide you through it.

Cbr 600 f4i when i take off it goes dead and the fi light comes on

Sound like you have a faulty fuel pump that is about to go out or possibly have a clogged screen. Either way, the bike is starving for fuel when you attempt to accellerate, but is just getting enough to start and idle.

Bike back fires and the f1 light comes on on the cluster panel as well as bike dies

The F1 light is the FI fuel injection light. Your bike needs to be diagnosed and scanned by your dealer or trusted mechanic. There is a problem with your fuel system and a code has been registered, your bike won't start or run correctly until your mechanic has scanned, fixed and cleared the code.

1. CHECK THE MAIN FUSEAND FI INGN FUSE IF OK THEN GO TO 2.
2. MAKE SURE ENGINE STOP SWITCH IS NOT ON.
3.MAKE SURE THAT FI RELAY IS CLOSING. TURN ON KEY SWITCH AND THE FI LIGHT SHOULD COME ON. THEN CHECK TO SEE IF 12VOLTS IS AT RED/WHITE WIRE COMING FROM RELAY ( RELAY IS UNDER THE SEAT)
NOW IF THIS SO YOU SHOULD HAVE SPARK AT THE PLUGS. IF NOT SOMETHING IS SHORTING THE ENGINE CONTROL MODULE. MAKE SURE THE BIKE IS IN NEUTRAL
AND THE IGNITION PULSE GENERATOR IS GOOD
