Why won't it start?

When you disconnected the battery, you upset the anti-theft immobilizer. Try this Security relearn which is for a Suzuki XL7.

Unlocking Doors with Key or Remote should DisArm the Factory Alarm

If you think this is the PassLock Key causing the problem,
If you have "two" Keys, try the other Key
Otherwise you can attempt to "Relearn" the Key

This procedure will only relearn the vehicle keys.

This procedure will not learn the immobilizer prerelease password or the challenge/response data.

Do not use this procedure as a substitute for a 10-minute relearn when replacing or reprogramming a TDM or ECM. Doing so will result in a failure to learn the prerelease password and/or the challenge/response data.

This procedure will erase all previously learned vehicle keys from the TDM.

Once the 30-minute learn procedure has been completed, any remaining vehicle keys may be programmed using the Adding Keys procedure to ensure their continued functionality.

1) Turn ON the ignition, with the engine OFF.
2) Observe the security indicator, after approximately 10 minutes the telltale will turn off.
3) Turn OFF the ignition, and wait 5 seconds .
4) Repeat steps 1-3 two more times for a total of 3 cycles or 30 minutes .

NOTE: The TDM learns the key transponder information upon the ignition switch transition from OFF to CRANK. You must turn the ignition OFF before attempting to start the vehicle.

Start the vehicle.

The vehicle has now learned the key transponder information.

If none of the above are successful, then the use of Dealer Scan tool is needed to Test System.

sound like problem in the theft security system your ignition key or ignition switch worn out.

If the car does not have a security system, I would check for voltage at the starter from the battery and from the key switch.
The power from the key switch goes thru the neutral safety switch before getting to the starter.

sounds like security system needs relearned .turn key and try to start then release key to the on position the security light will stay on for about ten minutes then go off ,turn ignition key to off position for five seconds then repeat the cycle two more times the system will then relearn code .takes a while but saves you $75.00 program fee

need to reprogram the security system. turn the key to start position then to run . let the key stay on until the light stops flashing. repeat these steps 3 times then the car should start if there is not a problem with the pass-lock sensor in the ignition switch or the BCM( body control module).

turn the igntion on, don't start, let it set for ten minutes Turn it off for 5 seconds then try to start it. If it lost memory for some reason and doesn't start . then do this three times , after the third time start it. that is the relearn procedure. Have a charger on it for the 30 minute relearn. usually when u replace that you need to relearn the security system for it to start,,,,try to turn the key till the starter hits then release and leave it in the run position for 10 minutes,then turn the key off for 30 seconds and then repat this 3 times and then after the last time turn the key off for 2 minutes and then try to start it,,thats the manual way to relearn the key abd lock,,if that dont wokr take it to the dealer

THIS SYSTEM REQUIRES A REPROGRAMMING PROCEDURE AFTER COMPONENT REPLACEMENT. THERE IS A MANUAL RELEARN YOU CAN TRY BEFORE HAVING TO TAKE IT TO THE DEALER FOR REPROGRAMMING. THE RELEARN IS AS FOLLOWS: DIS-CONNECT BATTERY FOR 5 MINUTES. RECONNECT BATTERY,TURN KEY ON BUT DO NOT START!! WAIT APPROX. 20 MINUTES OR WAIT UNTIL THEFT LIGHT GOES OFF. TURN KEY TO OFF FOR 5 SECONDS THEN ATTEMPT TO START. IF IT STILL WONT START LEAVE KEY IN RUN POSITION FOR AN ADDITIONAL 20 MINUTES OR UNTIL THEFT LIGHT GOES OUT THEN ATTEMPT START AGAIN. MAKE SURE BATTERY IS FULLY CHARGED!!! IF THIS DOESNT WORK IT WILL HAVE TO GO TO DEALERSHIP FOR REPROGRAMMING WITH TECH 2 SCANNER.
