Voltage gauges read the out put voltage from a alternator
it should be a max of 14.5 to 14.8 volts
if it is higher then the alternator or regulator is faulty and needs removing for a bench test or replacement
there may be a connection to the dash light through the light control module that controls the voltage to those lights
fix one and see it that fixes the second.

SOURCE: 95 chevy blazer has dash lights intensity varying while driving

This is not a voltage problem. The problem is in the headlight/dash dimmer. You have to turn the dimmer switch on the headlight switch to select what intensity you have right? try turning it down just a smidge and if it stays steady then it is most likely a dimmer switch problem. This requires replacement of the headlight/dimmer switch to fix. local auto parts shop should be able to have this in stock.

SOURCE: hi grand cherokee 1999 ,the oil guage read to MAX.

Just got word from an expert standing behind me (my son); remove the oil pressure sensor (on an I6) near the oil filter, clean it (small orifice) and put it back in. They just 'cured' one this AM.
If it doesn't work, (does 2 of 3 times) it is not an expensive part and widely available.

SOURCE: dash lights

You will have to replace the light bulbs. In order to do this, you'll have to take apart the cluster and radio to get to them. Visit www.oqcgp.net to search for fixes to common grand prix problems

SOURCE: Just yesterday all guages on dash stop working

Hi,
I would do a fuse check on this one. Your owner's manual should direct you to the fuse panel locations.
Hopefully it's an easy fix for you. Good luck!

sounds like an electrical nightmare! start by removing the cluster, now try signals are they working if yes then bad cluster, also i had a few caravans that just had bad connections i removed the plugs and reconnected them and it worked fine, also with the light coming on with your foot on the brake may be a bad or in correctly installed bulb, check all brakeand signal bulbs, try all of this , good luck, hope this is helpful.

Mercury Grand Marquis voltage reads low, but car still runs and dash went out

Worn out Battery or one that won't take or hold a charge
as well as an Alternator not working correctly

All the symptoms point to low computer module voltage
as a result of what I said above

Could be a worn ignition switch, only if that has something
to do with alternator regulator being turned on

The fuel gauge is'nt working.I tryed to ground it

When testing a fuel guage you should disconnect the wires to it,guage should read over full, ground the float wire, turn off key then turn back on should read empty. You have to cycle the key for guage to move.If still inop the wire is broken in the harness between the tank and the dash.Voltage on the float wire is low. When tested with a test light it will barely light the light and pulsate. This test indicates the wiring is good.

My 03 x type jag wont even try to turn over? Dash lights are fine but windows, mirrors and starter dead! All the dash lights and monitor and radio work but wont even tryto start? Transmittion wont come out...

Sounds like all of the high drain devices are disabled due to a weak battery. You are still getting dash lights and radio because they are very low drain devices. Try charging the battery to test for now. It could be a failing battery, or your alternator and or voltage regulator could be going out and not charging the system. But first, try to charge the battery, and see if you can start it, if you can, let it run for at least 10 minutes. If your alternator/VR is going out or is already out, you should have a guage, or idiot light telling you that you have low voltage. If its a light, you should see a red battery lit up on the dash, if its a guage, it should be directly in the middle +/- a little. If you are able to run the vehicle for a while with no light coming on, or guage showing low voltage, its safe to say you drained the battery, or it is failing. If its a few years old or more, i'd go ahead and replace it. Hope this helps :)

The body control module is the cause of your weird problems. Replace it.
