I have a 2007 Harley Super Glide, my front breaks are constantly rubbing on the rotor, could they be on to tight??

1) Does the noise stop, change, dissipate when you apply the brakes?

2) Does the noise increase with tire revolution and/or engine RPMs? If so, which one? Tire or engine RPMs?

3) Does the sound change during cornering?

Can't hear it at speed? Be careful and disengage the clutch at 'speed' to listen for it.

If I were a betting man (I'm not) I'd say it's either a rotor or a brake pad. The rotor could be warped, the brake pad could be improperly installed. Or it could be that what you're hearing is the drilled rotors that you're not used to. I assume you have drilled rotors. Not familiar with your bike.

Another (very) possible scenario is an out-of-round tire or a separted ply on the tire. If so, that can get dangerous. Be careful.

If possible, lift the bike and turn the front wheel by hand. See if you can pin down the noise. If you can't, steady your hand on something and hold the end of screw driver (or anything that's straight) about a 1/4" from the tire tread and see if it's out of round while someone else turns the tire. This can also show a separated ply. Usually.

    before I start the bike I roll it out the garage and I can hear the front break pads rubbibg on the rotor and when I go faster the noise gets louder, this is my first bike and am not sure if this is normal.....

SOURCE: change a stator

First secure the bike on a lift. disconnect battery.remove standard footpeg.Remove standard shifter. Remove all allen head bolts from outer primary cover. Some bolts are longer so keep track of where they go.Two bolts on the primary inspection cover also hold the outer to the inner primary case, so remove the cover.Now remove the outer primary case.The clutch,primary chain,adjuster, and compensating sprocket must be reoved as a single unit.Once you have done this take a rag and grasp the rotor and slide it off of the main engine shaft.Unplug the stator and remove the set screws holding it in place.Reverse procedure to install new stator.

Your wheel is 95 to 110 ft lbs

Brake Disk is 30-45 ft lbs ( lock tight)

Pulley i( belt Sprocket) is 55-65 FT Lbs Lock tight red on both.

38-42 psi is recommended but many riders prefer a lower pressure for a smoother ride.

Squeaky shocks on 2007 screamin eagle dyna

Are you talking about rear shocks or front fork tube/slider assemblies, either way there should be NO squeaking. Is there something on rear shocks that is contacting and rubbing?? Is any mounting hardware loose. Otherwise you probably need new shocks. Front fork tube should not be squeaking and could not likely be dry ie no fluid inside or you would notice poor ride quality. Otherwise there should not be anything that could/would squeak up there. Maybe it is not a shock that is squeaking but something else in that area that is loose or rubbing.

Gas tank noise on a Super Glide?

Check the front gas tank mounting bolts for tightness. Tighten the neck bearings.

Sqealing front brakes 2005 super glide 1500 miles

Usually when a brake squeals it's because someone has gotten wax or something on the rotor. The only way to stop the squeal is to install new pads and clean the rotor with brake cleaner prior to installing the new pads. Sometimes you even have to "break the glaze" on the rotor.

You can try taking the pads out and sanding them real good. Then do the stuff I said to do above. Might work.

2000 FXDX front brake rubbing. I hear it rubbing as I'm driving. If I engage the front brake slightly, the rubbing noise stops. What is this?

Disc brakes rub slightly anyway, but your rotor might be a little warped, so you are getting more rubbing than you should. How hot is the rotor getting after a short ride? (don't burn yourself, they do get hot after use). Is the rotor discolored blue/brown anywhere from overheating? How are the pads? If the pads are worn down significantly, the pistons may not be returning fully into their bores, and they are holding the pads against the rotors. Hope this helps.

04 ElectraGlide standard new brake pads rub on rotor all the time

nothing to worry about unless it's causing some serious drag. it's probably that you never noticed that your brakes made some noise in the past. could just be the pads you had installed. every bike i've noticed has the pads running on the rotors, with new pads you notice the sound more until they wear in a little.

Need the torques specs for the 2 nuts on the clutch on a harley

50 ft lbs and it is a left is tight nut...don't worry about adjuster nut on clutch just good ole tight will work on that one. compensating nut ( one in front) is 150 ft lbs.
