Smell fuel after the car is parked, both inside and around the car. Fuel lines and filter look good and free of cracks and leaks under the hood. I'm thinking it's in the vent system and/or to do with the carbon canister. Need a good diagram so I can be sure I'm not missing anything!
Chances are its what is called the fuel pressure regulator is the problem.
These other systems have vents and valves and are disgined them selves .
The pressure regulator deals with the fuel injecters mainly back pressure feed back to the tank .
The vehicle will run OK but when you shut it off you smell gas vapor it has to get out .
Thanks John, I guess that's possible, but that part releases fuel directly into the fuel return line and is routed back to the tank (closed system) no place for fumes to escape? Im familiar with the pressure regulator and on inspection it shows no signs of even the slightest external leak? I guess I'll replace it if I rule out everything else. Still would really like to see a diag of the vent system including the charcoal canister.
PS, this car just passed GA Sate emissions test yesterday, so gas cap was just tested. The fuel smell has been on going for some time.

he gave you a generalized answer because you didn't state the year make model ~ agree it may be one of the evap system, but it should have thrown a trouble code on the car's ecu ecm pcm
My apologies, when I made the post I was prompted for make, model, year, so I thought it would be visible. 1995 Toyota Corolla 1.6L
Ya she's old, but clean, original and still runs great.
