I have a simuler problem to this iv had it looked at by my local scooter machanics pedics and they have diagnosed it to be the stator plate/ pic up units hope this is usfull good luck

Did you just charge battery or did you have it load tested? I would bring battery in to a local parts store. They will most likely load test it for free. I would definetly start there. If battery is ok, then we can diagnose from there.
Big sorry here but without my head under the bonnet i cannot help here ,could be anything or nothing so to speak ,cam sensor ,coil pack ,auto choke ,anything in fact so try asking a local mechanic to have a look for you
Mine has 1 nut and I just rang an engineer and they told me for mine (mercury m48) it should definately come off once the 1 nut is removed and if it doesnt its ageing and rust. He said what he does is turns the scooter on its side, turns the wheel hammering it until it breaks free of the rust
An 8-flash code indicates that the controller has shot craps. The controller is located under the shroud beneath the seat by the batteries and it controls all of the power and automatic functions of the scooter. They are damaged most often by water infiltration like running through deep puddles, etc. or by over-amping the scooter by driving it through unstable terrain like sand, mud, wet grass. There's no fix for it but a replacement and it's pricey...several hundred dollars.
Look for crimped fuel line, loose spark plug or cap, after that tighten cylinder head probably (4) 10 mm nuts, these are the comon assembly issues I have seen.
