If the ECU is bad, keep in mind a used ECU will require an immobilizer reset service before the vehicle can be started. Used ECUs are available at a fraction of the cost of a new one.

Turn the key on and see if the light comes on, it should. If it doesn't , then someone has taken the light out or the ECM is bad. Put it on a scanner and have the codes read.

You will have to have the solenoid body replaced in the tranny and have the PCM reprogrammed.

SOURCE: transmission won't shift out of 2nd

I have had the same problem before. Everything you have said matches the exact problems I had. I was also driving down the road when my problems started. My speedometer stop working and my car wouldn't shift out of 2nd. I had a family friend who is a mechanic check it out. He hooked it up to the computer and it ended up being the Turbine Sensor. However you would want to hook it up and find out exactly which sensor it might be because there is another sensor that can cause that problem as well. I think this happend to me about a year ago but the part costed maybe around $30 or $40.

My 2001 es300 lexus automatic will not engage in all the gears feels like its still in park when i shift through all the gears and the check engine light is not on wats my troubleshooting please help

check the linkage connection on the transmission, it sounds as if you may have lost a connecting pin. Most likely a two person effort as you need someone to shift the lever, and another to observe the movement at the transmission. Don't need the engine running to do this, in fact recommend you do NOT run the engine, and use wheel blocks to prevent the car from moving as you shift gears.

Why won't My 2000 Lexus es300 go into reverse or neutral?

Probably the stick that control your transmission has moved. It's not sync. I recommend that you take it to a specialist.

Lexus ES300 Shakes/Vibrates At 45 MPH

Major transmission problem. That's what the flashing Check Engine light means.

If the Check Engine light is on all the time, it means there is a "fault code" stored in the computer. Take it to an auto parts store (like Auto Zone) and ask them to read the codes to see what it says. They should do it for free. If they won't, go to another auto parts store.

Shift lever repair

Most likely the shift cable that connects the shifter to the transmission if you can find where it connects to the transmission check there first sometimes they can get disconnected. then if your shifter is in the center console take the cover off and make sure shifter is still connected to cable. If that's not the problem and the cable is moving at the transmission then it's a problem inside the transmission

I have a 1993 Lexus es300..... after it sits for a couple hours sometimes the transmission is very slow to engage, like its still in park. Sometimes it takes several seconds, sometimes just a couple of...

Check to make sure the transmission has enough oil or put in new oil. It could also need a new transmission filter if that is applicable. Anything other than that and you are getting more expensive most likely.
