SOURCE: ford falcon gear not changing
Common answer for this problem is low trans fluid, if thats ok, then check your vaccuum line to the kickdown solonoid to see if it is not split or a hole, if you have cable, try adjusting it near the carby, lastly, it could be the clutches in the trans are shot, remember we are here to help as best we can, so I hope this gets you going, good luck.

Just had the same thing happen to my BA. No hot air. I'm a bit of a handyman so I had a go myself. 8 Hours is a reasonable estimate. You have to remove the steering column and entire dashboard to get the bugger out. Not a job I would attempt again.

sounds like tranny is in limp mode or very low on fluid. Is check engine light on?
SOURCE: BA Falcon gear lever moves
From what you say ,the shift mechanism has come loose from the side or the trans,or a linkage has fallen off.The ba has a good box so I doubt is the trans.Just a change linkage has come loose.Hope this helps.(Iam in oz)
