Has been in my garage for 2 yrs, added Sea Foam to gas & then 1 gal of Prem gas. Will start then shut down immediately.
Replaced battery & keep cleaning spark plug which comes out black, any ideas?
Unless you drained the tank and carbs when you put it away for that length of time you are going to have to strip and clean the carbs out. Unfortunately as petrol evaporates it leaves a varnish type material behind. Over time this will build up. Carbs run on very fine tollerances so you are having rich running issues. Probably one of the bypass circuits is clogged. Time patience and plenty of carb cleaner I'm afraid then run some in-tank cleaner through for the first tank or so. Good luck.
Make sure your choke is fully in closed possition> Sitting up for that long could have allowed vanish to not allow it to seat and cause an overly rich condition

Are you getting spark? Stabilizer only goes so far. If th es carb is clogged (common if you used gas with Ethanol), try adding 2 oz per gal of Sea Foam. Work the gas / Sea Foam mix into the carb and let sit for a couple of days. If the clog still doesn't break down, you will need to pull the carb and do a thorough cleaning. (Common with these small engines as they have very small jets and orifices).
It would first depend on the actual engine used on your model. Believe they used Briggs and Subaru.
Often the real problem is old gas (usually Ethanol) has gummed up the jets and passages. Quickest way is to pull the carb and clean it properly. Another way is to add Sea Foam to the gas, (2 oz per gal), run the engine (if you can) until the gas and Sea Foam mix is in tbe carb, shut it of and let it sit for a couple of days while the Sez Foam dissolves the blockages.
yes get a rag wipe off all the fuel . blow dry all inculding the muffler and spark plug make sure your getting spark if you are spray a small shot in the spark plug hole of starting fluid tighten plug if it fires drain fuel tank remove intank filter put in fresh fuel i get some Sea Foam you can get it a walmart or autozone meijers it made for 2 cyle and 4 cyle engines pour sone about 1/4 cup in the emptyas tank try to prime and see if starts if so put in 1/2 cup of sea faom in 1 gal of new fuel and oil get a new gas tank filter there about $5 check wlamart replace when brush cutter gets running find a way to secure it remove the blade or disengage it and make it run maybe almost full choke then less and less but after it runing take it out and run it good and make it work . ( I winterize my lawn equipt with 5gals of 89 octane full i can of 104 octane booster and 2 cups of charcoal lighter fluid ( it kenosee and the fuel would break down or put 1/4 cup in a empty mower start it for 1 minute and leave it you put in fresh gas next summer it has the charcoal or sea foam as a carb cleaner for the season . i put sea foam or lighter fliud in my fuel all yr as ethonel breaks down in 25days
Hi, run a number drill through the main jet. Even though you have carby cleaned it a thin layer of residue will remain on the walls of the jet. The problem you have is a lean misfire. Regards Phil.
Hi ! a easy way to possibly help this is to get a can of sea foam at the parts store and dump it in your tank it may help dissolve any goop that is in there and it helps renew bad gas ,also if this does not help remove your fuel filter and blow through it it may now have gotten a bit gumped up ,not a bad idea if you havnt done that for a few years anyway ,mostly the sea foam should help!
Check the intake manifold/s, even a small leak will make it run poor. Being stored for five years then putting it into use, you may have a blocked main jet. Sea-foam is a great product and I would have used that product to store the bike but not to get it running. It is slow acting so it doesnt work like carb cleaner.
Hi... I have a Poulan PRO Quantum xnp 6.75. Garage kept, unused approximately 2 yrs. Added fuel, primed & mower started but then shut down immediately. Then fuel began leaking from the primer button. I'm a single mom & CANNOT afford to have anyone fix this. However I am attempting to repair myself. PLEASE.... If you have any suggestions &/or solutions I would LOVE to know.
