Why does my honda foreman 400 shuts off instead of idling.

It could be your idle speed is set too low. If it will run with the throttle slightly open and rides okay with the revs kept up I would try increasing the tickover speed and go from there.

SOURCE: How do you check the regulator to see if its bad.

first unplug the connector for the startor. then check for power AC on all 3 wires, it has to be the same at 4000 or 5000 rpm. some 50 or 60 volts AC. if this is ok then plug it back and check the power DC in the batt. if it is 12.70 dc volts or under when the revs go high then it is the regulator.

sounds like it's time to rebuild the carbs you cantry running some sea foam cleaner thru the gas but you will prob. have to do the carbs

SOURCE: honda foreman 400 bogs down at high speed

dirty carbs the high end circuit under your large full throttle jet is clogged acid dip carb and spray threw carb cleaner till you have a solid stream out your air breather side of your carb if no solid stream try spraying other direction and using high pressure air hose redip if neccisary

On my 99 honda 400 4x4 foreman gas pours out of the line at the bottom of the carburator when i turn the gas on what is wrong

The needle and seat are leaking. Check that there in no dirt or grit making the needle stick. Hold the carb cover upside down and **** lightly in the fuel inlet, if you detect any leakage, replace the needle and seat. Also check that the float has not become saturated or filled with fuel so that it does not lift the needle to shut off the fuel inlet.
