SOURCE: seems like bike is running rich

The idle problem sounds like an idle adjustment. The surge may be the throttle cable, try spraying a lubricant from the top of the cable and work it back and forth to loosen and release any debris.

SOURCE: will not stay running.

The carbeurator needs to be cleaned. Get a bottle of seafoam additive/carbeurator cleaner at the auto parts store and add it to your gas tank [one ounce per gallon of gas] It will get the **** out of your carb.

SOURCE: Engine shutoff while riding at a fixed speed

It could be that you have to much oil in the crank case. I overfilled mind and my son could not ride his machine behind me, due to the smoke. Otherwise drain the carb (small bolt under the float chamber. Good Luck

Why did I was my 2005 Ultra Classic trike engine shut off while driving, start back up, went a few miles, before shutting off? Is that the kill switch malfunctioning?

Sounds like you may be low on oil. Bike runs until oil is pumped on top of engine, and not enough remains to coat the sensor. Engine shuts off, oil returns to reservoir, bike runs again....i guess that's why they call it a motor cycle....

The engine on my 2000 MPV cuts out and dies when I press the accelerator. After it sits for an hour or so, I can travel for 20 min. or so before the problem starts again. HELP!

if its been a while change the fuel filter and then have the fuel pressure and volume checked.these symptoms are very common for a fuel pump problem.

When warm looses idle speed and cuts when coasting to a stop

Try turning the idle up a bit after it has gotten to running temp. There's a nob down beside the carb and turn it in ti raise the idle.

Clutch slipping while cold, when warm/hot, it operates great.

I have a 2000 Vulcan Nomad FI & had a very similar problem. In fact, it's a very common problem with these bikes. I fixed it by replacing the Clutch Spring. (As Described here: http://www.gadgetjq.com/clutch_spring_replacement.htm

It cost me $40 and 3 hours of time with an impact wrench.

Engine skips, won't go over 55 mph. Works fine below that.

Hi ..... Go through the above list, pay particular attention to fuel delivery ie blocked breather in tank, any filter fitted to tap or change in line filter if fitted. Easy to check, take off fuel delivery to carb (place container to catch fuel), start bike and fuel should come out a strong contant flow.
