Are you sure it's the water pump? The most common reason for coolant in the oil is a blown head gasket. Check the coolant to see if there is oil contamination.
Generally speaking, if you have engine oil in the cooling system, you have a leak somewhere in the engine, which could be a head gasket. Is there any sign of coolant in the engine oil ?
If you changed the oil filter at the same time check that it hasnt come loose and leaked some oil though there would be signs of that where the car site. If it is overheating check your water as well.
Also check the oil for water and the water for oil as you will want to make sure that you havent done any head damage or blown the gasket.
