Sounds like you have either got water in the system or poor connections.
You can use something like dielectric grease on each connector. It is a bit of a pain having to open and close each connector on your bike, but once you've done it, you shouldn't need to do it again for a long, long time.

Thanks mate, it's still under warranty though, should the dealer come out and have a look at this?
Thanks for the help. An Engineer from the RAC came out and had a look at it. Had the petrol tank off, air box out and a good look at the carb, couldn't fix it on the spot but he's sure it's carb causing the problem and the switch may need recalibrating. Bike's off to the dealers courtesy of my breakdown assistance and will hopefully be sorted this week.
