Exact year is not important, and nobody can give you the info you seek without research, which you can and should do yourself. Google the following: Churchill Deluxe bicycle Churchill Deluxe serial number Hercules serial number
If the bike has a Sturmey Archer 3 speed you will find stamped on the hub the month and year it was manufactured. The bike model will generally be within a year of that date. In any case the bike is not worth a huge amount of money - well under $200.
Harley changed to 1" axles but exactly when in which model bike, I don't know. The best thing to do is measure the ones you have. Harley has always been notorious for "using up their old stuff" before making a change over. Therefore, you could have a bike built in the first month of the year with 3/4" axles and the rest of the year model bikes have 1" axles. We call these bike "transition year models". Sometimes it the other way around. An earlier year model built in Nov, or Dec. having parts that weren't "introduced" until the next year model bikes. Just take the nut off the axle, loosen the clamp bolts on the fork and bump the axle out enough to measure it. Then tap it back in and retighten everything. That way, you'll know for sure.
The price is whatever you and the seller agree on. Some bikes are in ratty shape some are showroom shape. I wouldn't pay much for any 10 year old bike. Most shops will not work on bikes more than 10 years old. After 10 years the manufacturers sell thier parts inventory to 2nd partys. No more parts are manufactured for thet model year. Parts quickly dry up and you are religated to salvage yards. Maintenance cost on the R6 requires a bank loan. If you want spare parts you had best get 'em while they last. My best advice is to get a newer bike.
Is the clutch lever sized or is the plates sized?
Usually the plates inside sizes, all you have to do is select gear 2 or 3 without starting the bike's engine, operate the clutch lever and push the bike,it should release, the rear wheel should now rotate freely with clutch lever in operation and in gear.
Hope this helps!
Well, let's look at it this way. The bike is six years old so that's 10,000km's a year. Here in the states, that would be 6,200 miles per year which is considered high mileage on a motorcycle here. Most riders here are recreational riders rather than transportation riders and their mileages usually is about 2,500 miles per year.
More importantly than the total number of miles on the machine is the quality of the upkeep on the bike. Has the oil been changed on a regular basis and has the little things that go wrong with a daily ridden bike been repaired. I've seen bike with that much mileage on them in great shape but bikes with much less mileage in terrible shape.
Next, it the bike appropiately priced having that much mileage on it? You should be able to go to a bank and find out what the value of the bike is. Make sure you ask them about the mileage factor.
