2003 suzuki katana 600 will not stay running when idling

    i had the same problem when i bought my 03 katana 600 but it turned out the guy i bought it from had 2 quarts to much oil in it my mechanic drained it all put fresh oil in and it was fine

Hi maybe idle jets bocked if the bike has being standing or maybe the carbs need a balance was the bike ok befor this started

Location of idel screw on 1999 suzuki katana 600

With my 98 model it is a small black screw in an opening on the left fairing just below the fuel tap. clockwise to increase the idle speed and anti-clock to lower it.

No idle,only runs if choked

2 and 1/2 just a point of refrence, it might have just as well been 1 1/2, when cleaning carbs disasemble them,as just using spray or add to the tank cleaners cant remove solids stuck in carbs and filters.Also look for any damage to ductwork at carbs that could let in any unregulated air.

How do i sync my 2003 katana 600 carbs

You need a carb syncronizer. If you call around to your local bike shop or shop on ebay, you should be able to find one for about $100.00 or less. It is well worth the money because if you set your carbs properly, your bike will run like never before.
