There is a little set screw that stops it from coming out. remove the set screw then I believe you have to unscrew it.

I bought a 1992 1200 Sportster and it didnt have a speedometer cable. It has a wide glide front in with a drag specialties mechanical speedo. I went to the Harley shop and bought a new cable but cant...

The is should be a speed drive unit on the axle that has a tab that sticks into a slot on the wheel. The lower end of the speedo cable screws into this unit.

Good Luck

The speedometer quick working on my 2003 Harley Dyna SuperGlide. Is there a fuse that could have blown? If so where is it located?

if all else on bike works, not a fuse problem, it would share with other components. remove and check for loose wires. if mechanical attached to front wheel, remove cable form front wheel worm gear and check if square cable is broken (pull it out)

The speedommeter and odometer is not working on my Honda VT125C4 motorbike. Odometer reads 642 miles.

There should be a speedometer drive cable that runs from the instrument cluster to the front wheel of the bike.

- Make sure the cable is connected both at the instrument cluster, and at the speedometer drive gear on the front axle, between the wheel and the fork.

- Ensure the drive cable is not broken - this may not be apparent by simply looking at the outside of the sheath. You may need to remove the cable and ensure that there are no breaks inside the sheath.

- Ensure that the speedometer drive gear is not worn or broken. This will require removing the front tire and disassembling the speedometer drive gear box.

- If all the above items check out, the problem is likely in the instrument cluster, and will require repairing or replacing the instrument cluster.

I believe it has to be remove from the front wheel hub end. Front wheel has to be pulled to access the drive.
