Check fault codes...although light does stay on longer to show historic codes that need clearing. To clear...access codes then hold the button in until clear message appears.
To access codes...

1- Turn Ignition switch to OFF & Run/Stop switch is to Run.

2- Push odometer reset button in & hold.

3- Turn ignition switch to Ignition and release odometer reset button. Background lighting should illuminate, speedometer needle should sweep its full range and indicator lamps (battery, security, low fuel, check engineprobable cause for engine check light to stay on l - icon1.png and cruise) should illuminate. The word "diag" should then appear.

4 - Push the odometer reset button once and you will see the selection menu "PSSPt" with the first P flashing.

5 - Each letter represents an area of the diagnostics module. The module that is flashing is the one you are going to check. To move from one letter (module) to the next, you push the odometer reset button one time. (from P to S to SP to t and back to P, etc.)
P = ECM/ICM (Electronic Control Module [EFI] / Igniprobable cause for engine check light to stay on l - icon1.pngn>icon1.png Control Module [Carbureted])
S = TSM/TSSM (Turn Signal/ Turn Signal Security Module)
SP = speedometer
T = tachometer

To get the DTC within an area of diagnostics, push and hold the odometer reset button in for 5 seconds and release. If there are any DTC's the code will be displayed or the word "none" will appear if there are no DTC's. Push the odometer reset button again to view additional codes if they exist.

1 - Record the codes.

2 - If DTC's are not to be cleared, Press and release the odometer reset button. Part number of module will be displayed.
NOTE: To determine if a code is current or historic, clear the displayed code by pushing in and holding the odometer reset button ( longer than 5 seconds) until 'clear' comes up. Release the odometer reset button. Turn OFF. Run your bike and shut it down then recheck the DTC's again by repeating steps 1 to 3 If the code is current it will reappear.

4 - Press and release the odometer reset button to continue to the next module.

5 - Turn Ignition switch to OFF.

On models not equipped with a tachometer "No Rsp" will appear when the tachometer identifier is selected.

"No Rsp" will also appear if the run/off switch is in the off position when doing this procedure.

Why is my # 4 cylinder missing on my 2004 chevy trailblazer

Most likely solution is to replace the s[ark plugs and check the ignition coils boots. The #4 cylinder plug has probably has a carbon track down the side of the porcelain part of the plug which will cause the cylinder to misfire.

Engine suddenly revs up, doesn't start well

Could be an automatic choke that causes it to rev up. Traction control is probably a faulty relay

After cleaning battery cables toyota camry will not hold a charge

How old is the battery? This behavior is typical of a dying battery. Either that or the voltage regulator module in the alternator has failed.

A crude test is to start the car, turn the lights on high beam, and have someone watch them as you rev the engine.If the lights flare up with revs, the battery is probably at the end of its life.

If the lights stay dim, the suspect the voltage regulator. It is a common enough failure.

Rev counter activates when ignition is turned on ,but wont work when engine running

This is usually caused by a broken sender wire. Check the cable for tight bends from the sender unit up to the rev counter, you will probably have to purchase a new sender unit.
Hope this helps.

While driving the engine stays at 3000rpm for 2sec and drops

hi,just a thought,if you have had two sets of carbs on it and they have been tuned/balanced and still does it,then it is probably not the carbs causing the problem.check your throttle cable,check it is in good condition with no kinks or tight spots,also check it is not jammed between any other component causing a sticky spot,also,check the freeplay in the cable,you should have around a 1/4 " freeplay at the carbs,with the engine running turn the steering lock to lock,the engine revs shouldn't change..s aticky cable can cause the problem you describe.hope this helps...cheers

Temperture guage goes from 180 to 260 and bounces back and forth. The service engine soon stays on constant. The check guage light goes on and off when the temperture goes red line.

The check engine light is operating correctly as the computer reads a spike in temperature range in the engine. Your problem is more than likely a bad thermostat. I have seen times when a bad or loose radiator cap would cause the same symptoms. If the radiator cap has been removed recently it could be that it is just not on correctly. Make sure you check this only when your engine is cold. Hope this helps you out

Shifting problem, automatic transmission

Does your check engine light come on when this happens? It's probably when your tranny goes into limp home mode. You should have 1st gear ( only if you shift it there manually) 3rd and reverse. You are probably experiencing the 3rd gear thing and are probably burning up all of the clutches when you accelerate and should probably take it into the shop before something worse happens. Sorry to be the bearer of bad news.

Choke coming on even in summer, is this right

it seems that your coolant temp senor is what causing this to happen it's natural inless it revs really high and stays above 1100 rpm's after the engine heats up.

Intermittant check engine light

The only way to find out what the problem is is by doing a scan of the car computer module using an OBD code reader.
The codes returned will tell you the cause of the problem.
