SOURCE: tiger triumph 2008 brand new wont start... help

ok
you have a problem with the starter not turning the engine. so we probily not sending a signal to the starter.
you realy confused me when you started talking about gas and choke?
if the engine doesnt turn over none of this even matters.

these new bikes have many safety features .
you have a sensor for netural and you have a sensor for your kickstand and a sensor for your clutch
and all of these have to be workinf right for your engine to turn over.
so with your kickstand up and the bike in netural and the clutch lever pulled in
it should turn over and start.
when it doesnt you need to check your wiring to the switches one might have come loose.
or could be a bad switch.
let us know what you find

Check the carb for old petrol, drain off by unscrewing the brass bolt at the bottom of the carb, and allow new petrol to flow through on the starter. Petrol 'goes off' in time!

SOURCE: bike cranks and wont start

Hi .... Sounds like regulator/rectifier is defective. Fully charge battery and try starting again, place multi-meter across battery and it should show 12.8-14 volts. If it doesn't replace reg/rec unit.

If u havn't checked the battery with an ohm meter, do so. If the meter reads 12.50 or higher start looking at your starter. The solinoid would click and a bad starter would nothing. You could try tapping on the starter with a small hammer while pressing the start button. If it starts or at least turns over, u need a starter.

When you hook the pressure test guage to shrader valve on fuel rail what it reads is what the pressure is from pump, around 60 p.s.i. all you need to do is hook up the guage and turn on key, you do not have to turn engine over, and if pump is good it will shoot up to 58 or 60 right now.

Just died wont start back up

It sounds like a fuel pump problem. When you first turn the key on you should hear the fuel pump run for about 5 seconds then shut off. There is a fitting on the fuel rail on the engine that looks like a tire valve, try pushing on that to see how much pressure there is after the pump runs. There should be a good amount of pressure on it. If fuel just dribbles out or there doesn't seem to be much pressure it is definaly a fuel pump. The best thing is to use a fuel pressure guage that will attach at that fitting. There should be between 45 - 60 PSI of fuel pressure when the pump is running. Good luck with your problem.

Possible fuel pump??

What is the year, make and model? One thing you can do to see if the problem is the fuel pump is to hook up a fuel pressure guage on the fuel rail located on the top o the engine. The valve that you hook the guage up to loos similar to the valve stem on a bike tire or car this will tell you if you are getting fuel pressure or not. Another common problem is the fuel pump relay which can sometimes go bad. This is usually located near your fuse block and they cost around $20 dollars depending on which application requires them. Keep me posted.
