You have an air leak after the carburetor. Old, cracked rubber fittings between carb and cylinder will let air into the manifold causing a lean fuel/air mixture. Same is true of "O" rings and gaskets. If there is a leak in the head gasket that will lean the mix also. Fix the air leaks and you fix the problem.

Lol my 400v bandit will idle sweet but wont rev touch the throttle and it stalls.
