I don't know your bike well, but hard starting, followed by OK running, is almost always the result of faulty engine timing. Look closely at that.

SOURCE: I have a 1983 suzuki gs550 it wont starts when hot

check the spark plugs better replace them make sure they are to the specs of the engine of yr bike.
You may have to clean the carbs too!

Good luck.

Am looking ofr a copy of the manual - not a repair

Try this link, for download or for sale. Suzuki dealers can order them but they are often expensive if they say it may take six weeks. They have been known to source their own manuals from OEM partslist sellers who have remaining copies.

The following 2 links provide threads to these OEM sellers and have normal on-line shops. Cheers.

Suzuki GT380 coils hot

Hi. I had a similar problem on an old Suzuki GS550. It use to start and run for a set time and then cut out and would not start until it cooled down for about 4/5 minuets. Then it would start and do the same, and the coils seemed to get quite hot. In my case it was the rectifier. Hope this is of help to you. Regards Tony.
