Sounds as though you have a blocked airbox intake. Look where the air is drawn into the box for obstructions. It is also possible that you are running your carbs too rich and the extra air that is being drawn in without the cover being fitted is putting the fuel/air mix right.

The plug for your bike is an NGK B8ES or a B8EG as alternative. The correct gap is 0.8mm.

hi, are you saying since you addjusted the valve clearences the bike wont start? re check make sure you had the engine on the correct stroke, remove spark plug, check piston is at tdc, and the cam lobes are facing down, recheck your clearences here, hope this helps/paul

Do a compression test, if one cylinder is low on compression you could have tight valve clearence, a bent valve or a burnt out valve any one of these will cause your motor to back fire now & then at low rev's

sound like your battery is goosed or the rectifer is not charging the battery , start the bike with the lights on rev the bike and see if you can see the lights gets brighter if not its the rectifier
