Sounds like the tumblers in the ignition have broke or come apart. the easiest way of fixing this would be to replace it or take the barrel to a good locksmith and have them rebuild it.

this is a late answer but whenyou insert the key this one sets verticaly, put your index underneaththe key and puch upwards, then turn the key clockwise, it is a safety device.

Kill switch was turned off even keys off but ignition still cranking up on my vstar 650?

The Kill switch only kills the ignition feed. Normally to the coil.
You will find that the starter circuit still gets power. But the engine will not fire if the kill switch is on.

I need a key for my 650 vstar yamaha classic and i need to take off my ignition off and take it to a locksmith can you help

Might you have the number of the key with your vehicle papers? The dealer can get a key based on the number. A locksmith will charge you at least $75.00 for this service.

The dealer will sell you a new switch for probably $30 to $40.00.

Need to remove key cylinder for vstar 650

They are tamper resistant screws which take a special tool to remove. (keeps the average theif from unbolting your ignition switch and easily hot wiring the bike) however the bolts can be drilled out to gain access to the switch and then replaced with a standard type screw upon reinstallation, the choice is yours.

Electrical trouble

If all the fuses turn out good especially the main fuse then you might want to check your starter solenoid. Try jumping the two leads on the solenoid if the bike starts then most likely the solenoid is bad. If it doesn't start then it could be two other things. 1- your Ignitions might be shoot. tell tail signs. Bike cutting out during the ride and bike loses power when you hit the starter button but power returns when you turn the key off then back on. 2- The Rectifier might be gone. The rectifier will cause many different problem that might have you chasing carb problems, to the bike won't start at all with no cranking
