When you fit new sprockets you also have to fit a new chain if you dont your sprockets will wear out very quickly, as your old chain is stretched to the old sprockets.

you need a new chain & most likely sprockets. Motorcycle chains don't stretch evenly.

No.That was the problem.The chain and the sprockets needed to be renewed.
When you will take, the rear sprocket's base, off the axle check it's bearing.Just put your finger in and turn it slowly to see if it "locks" instantly.It will be nice if you renew it now that you disassembling the chain drive system.

check that the new cam chain is roughly the same length as the old one, ensure that it is properly installed on the bottom (crank) sprocket, make sure that your tensioner is backed off fully, even after all of this you will still find that the chain seems too short, tip the cam to the left side of the engine & your chain should slip on..double check your cam timing with cam cap snugged down & tensioner released.

its not a good idea to ride with an engine noise that you've never had before..you might get stranded somewhere. Did you insure that your chain is not tight...its better to be too lose than too tight, give it an inch up down play, And you have to make sure that the rear sprocket angle is inline with the front sprocket, if not it will where out the sprockets and probably make some kind of noise. Husqvarna 50 chain keeps coming off

Are you adjusting the chain tension correctly?? Make sure the bar in installed correctly with the tension adjustment pin in the appropriate hole. Elevate the tip of the guide bar while adjusting the chain adjustment screw until the chain is snug but not tight. Then tighten the bar bolts without lowering the tip of the bar. Also ensure the drive links are engaging the sprocket correctly.

If the chain is adjusted correctly and the problem still exists, remove the sprocket side cover, bar and chain and inspect the sprocket for extreme wear. Once the sprocket is worn excessively it won't want to engage the drive links of the chain correctly which could be the source of the problem. If so, replace both the sprocket and the chain because the excess wear of the sprocket could have damaged the drive links of the chain and putting an old worn chain back on with a new sprocket will cause the new sprocket to begin wearing prematurely.

Need to replace chain on farm boss with 20 inch bar how do i get to sprocket to get old chain off

Release the chain brake. Remove the nuts/bolts that hold the right hand cover over the drive end of the bar. With the cover off, the bar will slide back toward the engine and allow the chain to be removed. Note the direction of the cutting teeth! Clean the side of the engine where the bar fits to, and the small oil passages in the bar drive end that run from the large holes out to the chain groove on each edge. Also clean the entire chain groove. Fit the new chain to the sprocket, then insert the bar and work the chain onto it. Pull out on the bar until the chain fits fairly tight, then fit the cleaned cover over the drive. You may have to change the position of the chain adjustment screw a few turns to allow the adjustment 'tang' to drop into one of the large holes in the bar. Make sure the cover is fully seated, then run the fasteners down finger tight. Turn the chain adjuster screw CW until the chain pulls up to the bottom edge of the bar, but not so tight that you can't turn the chain by hand. Tighten the fasteners fully and recheck chain tension. Start the engine and run the tip of the bar near some cardboard at speed for a moment or two--proper oiling is indicated by a thin line of oil thrown onto the cardboard. Be sure to keep the chain teeth sharp and properly adjust chain tension--don't allow it to droop when cutting. Hope this helps!

hi you could check the rear sprocket bearing, firmly grip the sprocket try rocking it from side to side, you should not have to much exsess play, have you refited the spacer that fits between the sprocket housing and the wheel? it is easy for this to be omited as it can fall out when sprocket housing is removed from the wheel, this will put undue stress on the bearing inside this hub as the wheel is tightened causing early bearing failure, you will need to remove the wheel again to check this, you may also check the conecting link has not been over riveted causing the link to become tight, check the link manualy compare it to the other links for stiffnes this will also make a clicking noise, is the sprocket a 1 peice construction on the rear, using a scredriver or similar rest it ontop of your swinging arm, rotate the wheel slowly and check for runout in the sprocket,was this noise apparent before you fitted the chain and sprockets, check security of the front sprocket, remove cover and check there has been no contact between chain and cover and or metal strengthening bar, run machine with cover removed to eliminate it from poss cause, hope this helps

After new clutch sprocket &good bar &chain chain r bar moves prematuely and chain comes off bar nuts r tight

have you made sure that chain pitch and gauge are the same as the sprocket pitch pitches can be 3/8 lo pro 0.50 gauge

.325 x 0.50 gauge , .325 x 0.58 gauge

3/8 std x 0.50 or 3/8 x 0.58 gauge or 3/8 x 0.63 gauge

you could even have the correct drum but wrong rim sprocket on it

worst case is you could have mismatch bar and chain

make sure that bar adjjuster assy is working correctly

recheck chain / sprocket pitches and bar pitch and groove
gauge

be sure that you fitted chain to rim on sprocket correctly when you fitted bar and chain?

is the clutch cover pulling down tight ?

have a look and let me know if and what you find

Honda vibrations

This one's a little tricky cause it could be a few things.
I'll try suggestions in the order of probability
  • Worn out chain & sprockets.(Or chain too tight or has a tight spot) Check this by raising the rear wheel off the ground,in neutral & spin the back wheel. If the chain & or sprockets are worn you'll feel it & hear it when you spin the wheel. If it has a tight spot,set the chain tension at the tight spot & lubricate well
  • Loose engine mounting bolts. If loose re- tighten.
  • Worn front sprocket shaft bearing. to check this(if chain seems ok) Remove the chain(note joining link direction of the circlip. The closed end faces the direction of rotation)Bike in neutral, turn the sprocket shaft by hand. It should turn smoothly.If it is notchy thats not good. It is a major job to change & can be expensive(So i hope its the chain &/or sprockets)
  • Broken tooth on a gear in the gearbox. I hope not as again a more difficult & expensive repair.

My chain will tighten up and slacken with one rotation of the wheel

chains & sprockets are subject to extreme forces & adverse conditions.adjust chain to recommended specs at the 'tight spot',with riders weight on saddle.excessively worn chain is denoted by being able to pull chain away from rear sprocket teeth enough to expose 1/2 a tooth.worn sprockets will have 'pointy'teeth.if wheel sprocket is worn,don't ignore drive sprocket.use a quality lube designed for exposed chains.

Chain wont stay on

Did you replace the chain with a new one ? If the chain is to big for the sprockets than you need to purchase a link remover from anywhere that sells accessory's for bikes.

Remove one link at a time untill the chain fits perfectly.

Chain tight spot

BUT adjusted like that there's a tight spot with 0mm. The green new chain required gauge on swinging arm tells me there's plenty of life left in the O ring chain. I've done approx 7K miles and chain wasn't new when I got the bike about 15 months ago. The sprockets are not BADLY worn. I fitted a Scottoiler 7 or 8 hundred miles ago..........Do you folks think I need a new chain and sprockets? This tight spot has only very recently become evident - don't think I've damaged the chain but maybe I have. Think I'm talking myself into new chain here!..............Anyone got advice about cheap/good value UK suppliers? Could do the job myself I thinkIf the tight spot is bad enough you will need to replace. And you MUST do it as a set...chain and sprockets. It is a waste of money to just replace the chain because the worn sprockets will wear it out in no time. And do not cheap out on the chain. Make sure you get a good quality O or X- Ring chain. I know the popular thing to do with sprockets is to get Aluminum to save weight, but I'd get the steel. It may weigh more but it will last twice as long. Just re-read, if it is adjusted to spec and the tight spot has no freeplay, yeah, time to replace.,,,
